I saw a bunch of new Genesis games at our local Babbages (in Milwaukee, WI).
They are Batman, Stormlord, Powerball, Faerie Tale Adventure, Centurion -
Defender of Rome, Twin Cobra, Ultimate Qix, and Might & Magic. They were all
released here within the last week and a half. Has anybody out there purchased
any of these games, if so, how about a review.

I bought Powerball for $49.99 and it is awsome. It tokk me about 7 or 8 games
to even score against the computer and I still haven't beat it yet, but it is
alot of fun. The sound track is pretty good, the graphics are very good (in an
overhead view w/ the upper right hand corner being a radar type screen so you
can tell where all your men are), and playability is fast and furious (very
brutal). The two player mode makes this game even better, and the concept of a
new sport makes it very interesting. You have 8 (I think) teams to choose from
and they all have unique characteristics which include speed, power, stamina,
acceleration, and one more that I can't think of off hand. In one player
exhibition mode these characteristics don't change from game to game, but in
two player exhibition mode you get 50 points to distribute between your player
stats (in 5 point increments). In one player league mode you get points to
distibute, but I believe the number varies depending on how well you do the
previous game, w/ the first game of a league you get 50 points. There is also a
password save feature to continue league play. There are four or five different
attacks you can use, including using the ball as a weapon, jumping up and
coming down on top of your opponent, spinning dropkick. The longer you hold
down the appropriate button, the more powerful your attack is. You can even
knock out your opponents for an extended period of time. I have already had
five or six opponents down at one time :-). The only downfall to this game,
IMHO, is the lack of a two player league mode, which is easily overlooked.

Ratings

: better than :Better than Genesis Soccer
Sound: 7
Playability: 9 : Tough to learn, but once you
do, this game is great
Funness: 9 : I love the brutality, never before
seen in a Genesis game
Lastability: 8.5 : With the different teams and two player
mode, this game should hold interest
for a long time
Overall: 8 : Something new and different for the
Genesis, with alot of brutality added in
AWSOME

These are just my opinions, but I think everyone who wants something new and
different to play on their Genesis will love this game. I hope this information
is useful to everyone who owns a Genesis (or a Megadrive, for that matter).

That's all for now,

Rob
