I own a TurboGrafx-CD player and am frustrated with the fact that there
are only 3 CD-ROM games out for it. (I have heard that Final Zone II
and Last Alert were shipped last week, though. Magical Dinosaur Tour,
supposed to come out in December, is now delayed until January.)

Does anyone know of a good source for Japanese PC Engine CD-ROM games that
will play on the US players? I would be happy if I could find a store
in the San Jose or San Francisco area, but I would also be very interested
in any store anywhere that sells these games.

I've seen some mail order places in the magazines, but they are charging
Mega $$$$ for them! $80-$90 for a Japanese CD-ROM game is a bit much,
I think! I would like to play closer to $70.

Also, could someone recommend or give a list of the better CD-ROM games
that you can play without reading Japanese characters? I'm planning on
getting the SIDEARMS CD SPECIAL, as I know this will be primarily action
oriented.

Thanks in advance for your help. If I get enough info, I will summarize
it here and let you know what I find.

You are in luck! K Electronics in San Francisco have them. K Electronics
is located in Kinokunia building, Japan town.

Inport games are always at a premium...

I don't know any so far. Super Darius are in all English, but I did not
think it's a great game. Currently I am playing Death Bringer; it's
FULL of Japanese characters.

As of last Saturday, K Electronics still have a copy of Sidearms CD Special
on the shelf.

I would be interested to know if there are any such stores in San Jose.

Yeah, that K-Electronics place also rips you off like crazy.
True, other stores importing Japanese games may have similar prices,
but have you noticed that most of the games at K-Electronics are
USED ONES???!!! For example, they used to have USED After Burner II
for Mega Drive for $70! Now that the game's also available for the
Genesis, they've lowered the price, but it's still $50! Most of
other games, either for PC Engine or Mega Drive, are used ones!
I also bet they're importing already-USED games from Japan which
cost around $10 each in Japan. (There are many places in Japan
that sells used games for cheap prices.)

To make my point: Don't buy anything from this store until the store
owner realizes the that people aren't stupid enough to be fooled by
his dishonest business policy.
