Two new games for Genesis are out at Toys 'R Us here :
Air Diver and Super Hydlide, both by Seismic.
I think this is the first time that a third party company is officially
releasing their titles here in US. (Techno Soft's TFII was released by Sega.)
I picked up Air Diver (since it was cheaper of those two), and I
must say I was pretty impressed with it. First thing I noticed was the casing.
It's different from Sega's - no stupid grids drawn all around the box.
The instructional manual is also beautiful everything from format, font and
artwork. Well, anyways, here's what I think of the game:
Title : Air Diver
Make : Seismic
Type : 3-D Shooting/Action/Simulation
Description : Have an After Burner rip-off and throw in lots of realistic
features such as radar, fuel meter, side-winder missiles, etc.
My ratings: scale out of 10
Playability : 9
Graphic: 9
Sound effect: 9
Backgr Music: 6
Comment: Unlike any other After Burner-like game, this game is VERY addictive!
This game also reminds me of Japanese animation Robotech (or Macross)
- the cockpit and the missile-lock on system is so similar to that of
Valkyrie fighters, if they had Zentradi robots instead of Migs, it
could've been titled "Robotech" or whatever.
If you like Robotech stuff, you'll love this game.
