I found no mention of this in the documentation and was wondering if it is
a feature or a bug? When driving the circuit I got demoted once to another
team and then again later (about the tenth race) to a team called
zero something (can't quite remember the name). At this point I didn't go
back to racing, the screen just went totally black and the genesis kept
playing some stupid song. I tried hitting every button combination with
the direction key but nothing happened. The thing seemed to be just hung
with the exception of playing B.G.M. I eventually ended up having to hit
the reset switch. This brings to mind an interesting question regarding
cartridge gaming. What happens if a released product has a bug? With
software you just send out a bug fix version to registered users but how
do you support cartridge owners? Has there ever been a bug fix version
for any game that had bugs or has there ever been a recall of a game? Or
does the user just get stuck with a buggy cartridge? I suppose you always
have the option of taking the game back, but in many instances I could see
that you really liked the game and didn't necessarily want to take it back
but rather you would prefer to be updated some how.

BTW- Is there a race after the wet conditions race in Super Monaco GP racing?
I have never been able to place above 4th in the second race so have
never found out if there is a third race.

I think this is a hardware failure, like maybe your Genesis got tired or
some unwanted change of currents flows thru it. One obvious thing to note
is that background musics are handled by another processor (z80a), and
when there's an interrupt, sometimes only the main processor (68000) gets
it and z80a doesn't. (this happens occasionally with other games, too, when
pausing the game).
You should get the password occasionally so don't have to panic if anything
like this happens.

Somebody asked about stage after Wet condition in Monaco GP? There's
none. If you get within 3 (I think, I only have got in 1st) you get to
see the finale (great digitized animation!)

Oh, about the control. Try using Arcade Power Stick, once you get used to
the gear shifting (control setting A, I use), the game becomes twice as fun!!!
