This is my first time on this News-net but I've been reading this post for a
while. I can't help but notice the biased comments on most of the posts.
It starts with usually this: A new game comes out on a system, people who have
it comment that their system is the best, then the techies start with all the
computer talk to prove that their system is better. People usually can't buy
another game system so they've have got prove to themselves that the one they
own is the best. These are the pro's and con's of the systems. As for
experience I have a SNES , Genesis, and TurbografxCD.

SNES:
PRO'S: The system has a lot of fun enjoyable games. They in my opinion
have great graphics, sound and all the otherstuff. What is important is that
the SNES has a bigger and better lineup of video games you can choose from.
Sega however had a dry spell of games during the summer and spring seasons.
SNES also comes up with alot of original ideas. We see the competion when
Sega lashes back with a mouse, and a gun. I do give Sega the credit for the
glasses but they are going to be expensive. Nintendo also conveys this feeling
of a Nintendo World that is huge and everexpanding. In the past Sega had tried
to do this with developing a "Sega" amusement park. I didn't hear anymore on
that subject for a long time.

CON'S: Nintendo is alot of hype!!! Their magazine has top-ten lists of
games that haven't even come out yet! I hear of stories that EGM is in their
pockett. Sometimes I believe them. Nintendo also wants a good reputation with
the parents. They put out learning games for the NES and prevented any heavy
blood games from coming out. MK for examp. They care more for the money they
are getting than fullfilling the gamers desires. They have become buisness
like more than ever.

Genesis:
PRO'S: Sega will not hype instead keep things in the dark until Cristmas.
SFII was a great surprise that they could keep it quiet for as long as this
time. They are also very open minded in games and will accept any products and
any games. Their games are also great especially the sport games by EA. Games
for the SNES by EA SUCKS! Genesis also has good original games like ECCO and
Sonic but I think their best line up is the sports. The Genesis also has a huge
selection. The number of games must be in the 500's by now. This is because the
Genesis has come out with their system earlier than SNES. By no doubt they will
have much more games for the CD than the SNES CD.

CON'S: As mentioned before if you take the best Genesis games, you don't have
that many compared to SNES games. As said before on other posts Sega lives in
Nintendo shadow. Sonic better than Mario. Nintendon't?! 16 Bit leader. They
have got to prove to everyone that they are better than their competition.
Sega has problems promoting themselves at first. Their catalogs had cheesy
bunches of art from different games and threw them around their Icon. They also
got to get licences like Spider-Man Batman Ariel and X-Men to get a great idea.

TurboGX:
This system has a problem of getting the japanese games over seas. They also
have a problem getting a solid system in Japan. They must have 3000 different
systems. Coregrafx,Duo,Pcgraphix, etc. Another Prob. It's not 16bit. The sys.
however has one or two games that are great. RPG's especially. My favorite Y's.

Comment on this please.

Sega lives in Nintendo's shadow? The tables are slowly turning. In the
Starfox ad there was a comment like "why go to the next level when you can
go light years beyond" or something like that. This is the first time I've
heard Nintendo make any sort of reference to Sega, whether indirectly or not.
Nintendo has always had this arrogant attitude that all other companies are
insignificant compared to them. Well that Starfox ad is evidence that they
certainly aren't ignoring Sega anymore... In comparison Sega has stopped most
of their ads that make any direct mention of Nintendo... they don't need to
anymore. Sega IS the 16-bit leader and everyone, including Nintendo knows that
now and they don't have to prove it anymore.

Make that, Sega WAS the 16-bit leader.

Teh...buddy you're starting to foam at the mouth :) :) :) Take a valium
and relax. First a little reality. Ask anyone one the street to name a
video game maker and I bet you Nintendo comes up more often than any other.
Especially, with people that don't play video game very often. Does this
mean that they are the video game leader? No, of course not but it does mean
that they have the best name recognition in the marketplace. And I
promise you that it helps sell machines. As for recognizing the competition,
well any good marketeer knows that it is preferable to ignore the
competition, which Nintendo has done for many years. I mean what would
you expect them to do? Put an ad out that says "Hey, You know that Genesis
machine is a pretty good piece of hardware and ours is too!!" I am certain t
that the StarFox commercial refers to the Genesis slogan only to try and
lessen the effect of "sound byte/slogan" advertising. Afterall, wasn't it
Sega that started this by having Super Mario Kart in their ads? And if
you think that Sega is no longer conparing themselves to Nintendo, just
look at the Game Gear vs Gameboy ads. You know the one with the dog...
And you can't tell me that the Street of Rage ads are not tryng to
counter the popularity of SFII?

As for who IS the 16-bit leader? Well that remains to be seen. I am sure that
both Sega and Nintendo can produce satistics that would indicate a superior
position for either company. Certainly Sega has sold more CD systems, but
I wonder what Nintendo's order rate for consoles has been over the last
year.

I don't think there will ever be A leader in the video game market for the same
reason that we don't have a single automobile company, or a single computer
company, or a single blue jean company and so on. Different strokes for
different folks.

Come on, let's get off this thread. It is counter productive for everyone.
I mean we might as well discuss the existence of alien life forms and
whether or not they prefer Genesis or Nintendo.

Cheers
TC

PS - You can tell that the SNES is superior to the Genesis by simply
counting the number of buttons on the controller :) :) :) :) x10000.

To Tao Kao Yang, The post I put up was just basicly to state that the systems
Pro's and Con's. I wanted to prove that we didn't need all this system talk to
prove which system was better. I just wanted to state the facts in an unbiased
opinion. You however constantly in every post and the reply insist the Genesis
is the best in the world! I am not trying to start a flame war but try opening
up your eyes to other games. You treat the systems SNES and SEGA as countries in
a cold war thinking yours is best and never looking over to the other side. We
all have our opinions but we can keep them to ourselves. We don't need to openly
discriminate agaist other systems. We play games for fun not to argue agaist
them. My favorite game? Y's IV PC ENGINE.
