Hi,
Just curious if any one else knows anything about the Sega Channel.
I read in Sega Visions that it would be available in October, but I have
not seen or heard anything yet. Please email or post if you have any
info.
Thanks,
Chick

I am in E.L. as well, and I agree - the games this month suck - you know
why? they are the same ones I got ~5 months ago when the SC first came
out. They are apparently doing some "reorganizing" of the channel and
the distribution software(sounds like a B.S. excuse for releasing the
same disc as before because they did not want to build up a new one, or
get new games on it, or...). It doesn't take me 5 minutes to load
games. I estimate about 2(off-campus though, which could be different).
I don't mind the load time because I can usually do a couple of other
things while I am waiting(bathroom break etc. :) )

Hey Christopher M. Dunne;

Your best bet is to call your local cable company
and ask when (or IF) they are planning to carry it. I called
mine here in MA and they hadn't even heard of it! I was pissed,
it sounds like a great product for them to make money off of.
So customer service advised me to write a letter to the general
manager of the division, telling him about the service and why I
think they're company should carry it. I haven't followed up on
lately, now that you've reminded me maybe I'll call today.

What basically happens is the cable company put a "T" off of the
back of your box, this co-axial cable goes to a "cartridge-like"
device which plugs into the Genesis. Then games can be downloaded
from a main menu off the screen. It has pros and cons. Supposidly
you have a wide variety of games that will change each month,
which is interesting for people who get bored quickly. Also I read
that the not yet released games you will be able to play only let
you play for a pre-determined amount of time, maybe two or three
levels then the games shuts down...bummer! Oh well hope it comes
our way. Oh yeah I've heard all sorts of prices from approx. $12.00-
$20.00 per month ?

Happy Gaming! :^)

The Sega Channel costs 11.95 per month here - I have heard it is more
elsewhere. You get about fifty games a month and 40-45 of them are
complete games. There is a test drives section where you can supposedly
download games that have not been released, but you are only allowed to
play them for ~10-20 minutes, or just a few levels, or...anyway, each of
these types is limited. The problem is, in my experience, (4-5) months
of SC usage, none of the Test Drives are "unreleased" when I go to video
stores, they are there on the shelf as new releases.

I have gotten probably over 200 different games in the time I have been
subscribing. They range just about anything that is offered(probably not
the real large games because of memory limitations).
I have had:
Mortal Combat
X-Men
NHL '94
Shut Up and Jam
Populous II
Caesars Palace
Looney Toons
Tons of disney Games

on and on.. I can't think of a ton more right now, and I have to run.

Hope this helps,
