I just replaced my VMU batteries. I can't believe that Sega uses 2
CR2032 batteries. It cost me $2.99 X 2 + tax = $7.00. Isn't this
getting a little to rediculous. The controls in VMU suxs. The D-pad
is very irresponsive.

Yeah, they could have at least made the VMU's run off a AA or even AAA battery.

Try eBay and search for "dreamcast vmu batteries".

Here's just an example of 30 for $9.00 (there's a lot of
similar auctions):

Is it possible that a third party will release VMU with AAA batteries?
I know Peter Moore read this newsgroup. Hopefully he take a note. $7
a month is no joke for me. Half of what my ISP costs.

The VMU just by itself is a complete gimmick thanks to the battery usage.

Would be nice to see a different power source.

Someone made a homemade DIY job to run it off of AA batteries.

Haven't tried it myself.

This is one of those times where I have to say go to ebay. Do a search
for seller ptron1 or for items containing cr2032

Ptron1 has many many sets of 30 batteries up for auction at $10 each.
That's what I paid for mine, and they were shipped pretty quickly.

Just taking the batteries out, you only need them for mini-games.
Unless you think that the 2 second beeping noise is too much for
your ears.

There is a battery dealer on ebay who sells these things all the time. If
memory serves me correctly, I bought 30 new batteries (shelf life of 5yrs)
for $15 including shipping costs. I definitely payed less than $20, that
much I know.

My local Wal-Mart sells these batteries for under $2.00 each. Sounds to
me like you guys are paying too much!
