Well, May is almost upon us, and for those not attending E3 that means buy
a video...

So whose is the best?

Last year I ordered the one from Marty Chinn (Video Source), but there wre
a few hitches:

1) It took a LONG time to get to me (June or July)

2) The video was "biased" in that there was like 10 min or so of some
Japanese RPGs, but only like 1.5 min of Sega Rally Arcade (my fave arcade
game of 95) I know you can't please all of the people all of the time,
but his video was heavily biased toward these RPGs that I couldn't read...

3) Too many systems were trying to be covered. This made each section
much smaller than I would have liked. Granted, this year we should not
have any Atari and 32X footage, but I would like it if the video mainly
concentrated on the "Next generation systems" (Saturn, Nintendo 64,
Playstation, M2, Virtual Boy) Maybe a separate video for 16-bittters
(Game Boy, SNES, Genesis, etc.)

This year Tronix's video should be good, but Joe seems to have a slight PS
bias (everybody seems to have some sort of bias).

For anyone that got multiple videos last year, which did you like best?

I had all videos out by mid June. The reason it takes so long is the
length of the video. I pretty much sent on a first come first serve
basis. I have worked on duplicating the video faster so there should be a
much quicker turn around time this year. Each year has been a much faster
turn around time. I'm not doing this through a proffesional studio but
out of my home.

Sega Rally was not out in the arcade back in May 1995 if I recall. At any
rate there was one RPG that I showed that was Japanese. That was Chrono
Trigger which I expected several people would want to see. I pretty much
let the demo play through and had a little interaction with someone
playing it. The demo was pretty good cuz it showed generally everything,
but I also had someone play it so it would show how the game is played. I
really don't think this is a bias towards RPGs. It was one major RPG.

Well this year it should mostly be of Next Generation stuff, but if there
is some SNES and Genesis, I will cover that as well. I try to give an
equal ammount of footage towards each game depending on what I judge to
be more important. On major games,I try to give a bit more footage, or
sometimes a lot more footage depending on what it is. Also if you figure
the ammount of time the total video is, even at 6 hours if you're
thinking thats not enough for all the systems, look at what the other
videos are. If I recall, almost all of them are 2 hour videos, divide
that up say even with 4 systems, you're looking at a half hour a system,
which I think is too little.

I do hope you choose my video this year because I think it will be the
best one yet.

Oh shoot, now I know what he's talking about.Hate to reply to myself, but
I did make a mistake in my reply. Now I remember there were four RPGs on
that video. One I had more footage than I needed. This was Rig Lord Saga
for the Saturn, aka Mystaria. When they had it on display they had it at
the start screen, so I started filming as my brother played it. Little
did I know that the intro would take so damn long. So when I went to do
the tape, I probably got lazy and didn't edit out a lot of that stuff.
While Lunar, Chrono Trigger, and 7th Saga 2 I think were the right
ammount, notice how short 7th Saga 2 footage was, Rig Lord Saga did
overdo it.I really don't think it was a bias at all, just a slip up on my
end of not editing a lot of that out.

It's possible that Game Zero might do a video this year. You might want
to EMail them and ask.

Marty,

Would you be kind enough to *post* $ cost and any other pertinent info for
your upcoming E3 video?

My Mac's Eudora settings file got trashed (with my stored password--doh!),
so knowing my provider it will take at least a week for my e-mail to be up
and running again again.

Thanks for any info, Marty!

Jay
