Now I just need to play throught 2 on the PS2. And finish the last bit
of 1... and buy the third game they released in Japan, the historical
version...
I saw the same info on the EU blog, and either way it's fantastic news. As
I understand it, the western version is subtitled only, since dubbing was
an additional expense they couldn't justify. I'm mostly indifferent on the
whole sub/dub thing, so I'm happy to get it with one option or the other.
I don't have a PS3 yet, although I do have a handful of the Sega games for
the console (most notably Valkyria Chronicles) sitting around waiting to
be played. If Yakuza 3 happens on schedule, this means I'm getting a PS3
before I get a Wii.
-KKC, doing all his Christmas shopping online.

Keep an eye out for repeating Black Friday type deals. I was pleased to
find Little Big Planet and God of War Collection bundled for free with
the system from Gamestop on Black Friday. Combined with the HDD
increase, price drop and my semi-need for a BluRay player (and the
expiration of the Red2Blu program to convert my WB HD-DVDs to BluRay for
$5 a pop at the end of the month), it was finally time to get one.
I can't help but look at LBP, and games like Fat Princess, and think
that those are games Sega should be making, or at least that should be
on a Sega console. Ah well. Yakuza is at least a semi-consolation for
the lack of Shenmue.
I actually went out and picked up Yakuza 1 and 2 from the local game
shops around here after this announcement. My purpose was two-fold: 1
- To see what the hubbub is over these games and 2 - to get them before
the inevitable price hike due to the hype of the 3rd game's release here.
Played a few hours of Yakuza already, and I'm digging it - although all
the swearing just seems forced and overused. These are Japanese
gangsters, not hollywood ones. I understand the 2nd game is subtitled
instead of dubbed, so maybe that will be more to my liking.
Other than that, I really don't have any complaints about the game - it
feels like a faster paced Shenmue with more clearly defined objectives
and a much more accessible and enjoyable fighting system. And strip
clubs, I guess, but they're not very strippy.
