Can someone tell me if any of the below games or of any quality? I'd be buying
them for about $10 each and I was wondering if it was worth it.

Email me at chun...@hotmail.com or just post to the newsgroup.

The games are:

Mansion of the Hidden Souls
Quantum Gate
Deadalus (aka Robotica)
Darius Gaiden

Thanks!

Will

Mansion of Hidden Souls -- I've yet to play the Saturn version, but the Sega CD
version was nice. It's basically a FMV game of sorts, and, once you play it, there
will be no desire to play it again.

Robitica -- A corridor (Read: Doom clone) shooter. Bland, repetitive, though
speedy, graphics and not a whole lotta fun. If you like Doom-like games, probably
worth $10.

Darius Gaiden -- People gripe about this shooter being impossibly difficult, and,
well, they're right. Tis a nice game, but think of the game only being $5, and
you're getting an extra music CD for another $5. Yeah... that made sense... The
game has great 2-D graphics, but the music is even better. Darius Gaiden spends
more time in my CD player than my Saturn, and I would say that's the only game
listed truly worth the $10.

Quantum Gate -- ? Never heard of it.

Uh-uh. Bad deal. Unless it has been improved over the old Sega CD version,
you'll be able to beat it in under an hour. A nice concept, tho'.

>Quantum Gate
Never heard of this one... have you tried visiting www.saturnworld.com and
checking the reviews page?

>Deadalus (aka Robotica)
Only heard bad things about this game... a bad Doom clone, from what I've
heard.

>Darius Gaiden
$10 for this one ain't a bad deal at all, if you're into 2-d shooters.
Possibly the best game of it's type you can find in the US.

So that's a possible 2 out of 4 for the set up. And if Quantum Gate is a
dog, you've pretty much paid $40 for Darius Gaiden, which you can find at
any TRU for $20.
I'd take a look at Saturnworld, or , better yet (now that I think about
it... ) www.sega-saturn.com , which has a great big ol' reviews page.

Darius Gaiden is almost worth $10 just as a music CD, but it's a great
shooter too, just make sure you grab the codes from SegaSages since alot
of people seem to have difficulty with it (turbo fire being the most
essential).

Of the others, Robotica is crap, and I haven't played the other two.
In fact, I've never even heard of Quantum Gate.

I finally remembered what Quantum Gate is. It was a computer adventure game
(from the same people who made Critical Path). I don't know anything about
the Saturn conversion, but I don't think the game was worthwhile in the
first place...

remove *2* nospam's for email...

I played the Sega CD version back in the day...it's all right (might be
worth the $10) if you like those 7th Guest style point and click
adventures.

> Deadalus (aka Robotica)

This game sucks! It's Doom without the fun...

> Darius Gaiden

I love Darius Gaiden, a fun style old school shooter that is VERY
challenging (just how I like my shooters). It isn't going to make newer
shooters like Einhander blush, but for $10 it's more than worth it.

NOT the Saturn's best moment. While it's a sequel to the somewhat-cool Sega
CD original, this one is much smaller than the original. Basically it seems
like a CD game made by an acting class. If you hear each character give his
or her soliloquy, then you know you're on the right track. Unfortunately the
game can be completed in less than a half hour, and you won't want to play it
again. I got it for $5, and I wish I hadn't. The original mansion was much,
MUCH better than this one. None of the tricks, traps, or talent of the
original.

> Quantum Gate
Can't say I've played this one.
> Deadalus (aka Robotica)
Ugh. It was a Doom clone, which is a plus, but it's an awful Doom clone, with
enemies that barely move and are rarely seen, and you can barely see your hand
in front of your face in the dark halls anyhow. Save your 10-spot.
> Darius Gaiden
The only good game of the bunch. A classic 2D shooter, which is one area that
the Saturn excels in. Not the equal of the big-league stuff, but easily worth
$10.
Hope that helps.
