You need to finish the game to get them - and the only way to prove
you've finished, is to have the saved game in the internal or external
RAM.
And what a damn fine game this is. I've just started playing it through
again...

You have to have a save game with a charachter who's beaten
the game. I'll explain more below.

Here's how the game handles it:
There's a "flag" that's in every save game you make. It's
turned on when you beat the game. (The flag needs to be on to access
Goldark and company.) Here's where it gets tricky:
As soon as you start a game w/ Goldark or Reinhart, the flag
automatically goes to off. So, if you beat the game with Wein, Start
a new game with Goldark, and save it, you can't start a new game with
Reinhart until you beat the game with Goldark.
I'm sure that's more complicated then it needs to be, but just
as long as you get the concept. :)

if you need any more help, http://www.saturnworld.com has more
info. (Which I also Mildly contributed to. :) It should be in the
"Codes" section.

Cheers. I've written the guide now, which should be printed in Saturn Power
at some point in the future.
Anyway, I've seen the guide on SaturnWorld, I gave it a look to make sure
that I hadn't missed anything. I hadn't :). Do you know though, that
certain cheap strategies that you can pull off in DF aren't in the SW guide?
For example, the 'regroup lance' which was referred to; I always found that
dispersing while facing mages was a better option, then advancing a little,
dispersing, advancing until my army was around the enemy's, then Melee-ing
them away. Or the Regroup trick with Mages against a lone general -
advance them and regroup them till at least one stand on each side of said
general, and Standby. Or the Sonic Boom trick that you can effect with one
lone general up against an army of Mages - they automatically Melee allowing
you to get rid of most of them as they all end up running in the middle.
Just some thoughts from an obsessive player of this game...
Oh, BTW, I completed the game as Leon, and now I am able to have both
Reinhart and Goldark saves on the cart. I don't think I understand some of
your logic...
