Well it's hard to argue that happened. Only a Genesis and a Game Gear
appearance was all to be had for the big star creature. Not even a lousy
stinkin' sequel.
What do you guys think about Ristar? (Gen or/and GG versions)
Also, would a 3D Ristar game for GameCube be good for Sega or a bad move?
It's not an all time classic, but imo it's not a bad game. I enjoy playing
it now and then at least.

Any 2D->3D conversion is a bad idea. When are we going to see a 2D game on
the cube?

It would be a terrible move. Ristar failed because it was just another
crappy platformer - the bane of 16bit gaming.

Ristar was an excellent game, but somehow lacked the appeal of Sonic.
Still, a well-thought-out 3D version could be fun.

When you look at Capcom vs SNK 2, Sonic Mega Collection or the old games
in Animal Crossing...
Cool. I'll take a look at those.

No, it is an excellent platformer and one of the best on the system.
Ristar failed because the Genesis market was waning as the new 32-bit
systems approached and lacked the publicity to get it off the ground.
You're half right that the platform glut didn't help, either, but
Ristar is a real gem like many of the late Genesis games that were
just lost in the awe of polygons.

Which incidentally includes Ristar ...

It doesn't mention it on the box, but it is in there, unlocked after
you've played a certain number of games.
