From what I've seen, it looks very much improved from the pictures we've
all seen months ago. The life bar is now imposed on the playing area itself,
and the playing area is full-screen, with no letterboxing. The colors and
details of the graphics look much better, especially the colors. For example
in the Guile background I noticed that the sky is now several shades of color
unlike before. The characters look slightly bigger as well, but probably still
not as big as the arcade. Anyways I guess we'll all be able to see the pictures
soon in the latest issue of Die Hard...

Which one?

That's good. This was my only gripe of the Genesis version.

Better colors, huh? Maybe they upgraded to 128 On-screen, or Cinepak.
For those who don't have Capcom's SF2 Turbo video tape, they show
the Genesis SF2 in action, and it looked great, IMHO. The animation
was fabulous, and I imagine the voices weren't all that bad.

Just out of curiosity, what will be different about the "special" Champion
Edition as compared to Turbo or Hyper Fighter? I read in Sega Visions about
a 24-meg "Tournament Edition", is that the same thing?
Hopefully they've redone it since CES; the version they had there wasn't too
promising.
Also, can someone explain what "Super SF2" is? I keep hearing people mention
it and I've never heard of it.

It was working ten minutes ago, I swear...
Anyway, has anyone here seen the P.C. Engine version of SF2'?
It is simply amazing... it's way better than the original SNES SF2..but
I haven't been able to compare it to Turbo edition yet (There is a TCE
code for the P.C. Engine version but it's hard to do... anyone have it?)
I played it over my friends house with the Fighting Commander PC
6 button controllers and I was amazed at what good programming can do to
the DUO/TG16.... any serious SF2 maniac should check this out... you'll
be surprised! I think some of the screens lack parallax scrolling, but
you really don't notice it.
The sound sucks, but considering they used simple 6 voice PCM,
you gutta give 'em a break. The speech is ALL there and same with the
music... it's just all a bit tinny and unclear... still, all in all
I'd have to give the P.C. Engine version of SF2' %90... it's a GREAT
translation!

No way--have you seen the screen shots? They've put _a lot_ of work into
this, with redrawing the characters and their backgrounds, and adding
new moves. And consider that they added four new characters--in a game
as complex as SFII, adding new characters while keeping game balance is
really tricky, I bet.

Absolutely!

Yes, truly a fantastic programming feat! I'm wouldn't be surprised they've
started making "Street Fighter II: The Monday Edition", "SF II: The Tuesday
Edition", etc.... They could even make the "Sunday Edition" print out
valuable grocery coupons and cost $.10 more.
PLEASE...

Just because you don't understand the game's appeal/complexity doesn't
make you any less of a fool for saying this...

Well, it's certainly exciting news for those who play the game. This is
a more drastic re-working than either Championship Edition or Turbo
Edition, or possibly even both combined. Introducing four unique new
characters and new moves for the old characters does a *lot* to affect
the flow of the game. I wonder if it will work? :)
If the differences among versions of Street Fighter weren't that much,
then people would still be playing Classic...

I can't wait to see the new version, I wonder if theyv'e added more bonus
rounds? I LOVE smashing the car to bits.

No, they aren't going to add new characters to the Genesis version. I'm not
sure if the people who have been posting to this thread realize that the
subject header refers to the upcoming "Special Championship Edition" for
Genesis and not the also upcomming "Super SFII" arcade machine which is what
they have been talking about. If you're going to change the subject, people,
it's a good idea to change the subject header too to avoid confusing people
like you did to this guy.
