Hi,
I was at the Ross Park Mall tonight (in Pittsburgh) and saw the 32X.
Yeah, it was kinda funny that there weren't any games. The Babbage's
salesman says to me "You're lucky, we have one left!" ..."What am I
supposed to do with it?" I ask. "Well, this way, you don't have to
worry about them being out of stock when the games get here Friday" was
his response. Great logic. Anyway, both stores (Babb. and Elec. Bou.)
had it, and it looks like ElBo. has a better offer: on top of the six
$10 coupons in the box, they offer another 6 $10 coupons, which can
supposedly be used at the same time as the other coupons (for a total of
$120 off your first 6 games). Of course, these coupons are probably
good only at ElBo, and maybe they'll charge more for the games.... Hope
this helps. By the way, it was $159 at ElBo, and the Babbage's salesman
said it was $150, though I think the sticker said $159.
Hope this helps.

I love the 3DO and I distinctly remember the nonstop bashing of the 3DO
even into the new year(when it in fact had many games) about how the
3DO was launced with no games. Now Sega launches their 32X which supposedly
has great 3rd party support and whoops where are the games. Will it get
bashed like the 3DO? And remember the 3DO had a pack in game (a good one
too).

So how will the 32x be judged by this no show of games? And what ever
happened to the 40 games supposed to be released when they clammoured about
it months ago? Well it changed to 12 and 12 at Xmas. Then to 6 at release
and 12 at Xmas. Then 3 (Star Wars, VRD, and Doom) and 10 or so at X mas.
Now they missed the 3. So how many, really, do you think will come out by
the end of the year.

And how about Doom? Will it actually be released before the Jaguar version?
Wouldn't that be a stab in Jag customers backs. I mean this title was
supposed to be out long ago on the Jag. It was advertised even before the
Jag version of Wolfenstein 3D. I still think Sega paid ID off. I think
Atari paid ID off originally so it wouldn't do a 3DO version and then Sega
had an even better deal so ID said stop the development on the Jag lets get
this 32X version out the door.

Well this Xmas will be interesting. It would be funny though if in two
months Sega has more games for the 32X then Atari had for the Jag in 14
months.

You've go something wrong here...ID did not program DOOM for the 32X, Sega
did it themselves. ID, however, did program DOOM for the Jaguar and
John Romero himself said that it was the best version of DOOM on any
platform. Granted, Romero did not have a hand in the 32X version development,
I still believe he is correct after seeing the pixellated screen shots Sega
keeps showing. How can you go wrong when the original guys that made DOOM
think it's their best version?

About this conspiracy, I don't believe any of it. ID software makes in
excess of $100,000 per week, so they have no need for the type of "petty
change" the other companies could have offered.

One more thing, Atari has only recently begun advertising for DOOM. To my
knowledge, there has yet to be an advertisement for Wolf 3D. The only kind
of "advertising" before this were magazine articles.

ElBo sold me mine for $149. Yes the coupons are only good at
ElBo. The Sega "Coupons" included with the system are really
rebate offers that you have to send to sega and wait 8 to 12
weeks for you $10 :( .

Sega officially meant to release the 32X on Friday, with the release of
the games (V.R. Deluxe, Doom, Star W. A.) but Sega sent out the 32x's
early. Wow...can't you wait two more days? The 32X was released Wed.
The games come out Fri. the day the 32X was supposed to be released
also. Big deal. The 3D0 had to wait at least a week before games came
out, and it came out on time. The 32X has come out ahead of its
scheduled debut, that's all.

Waldensoft says they'll be getting it in this Friday. That's good, because
so far the games I've played on the 32X suck. I've already returned Star
Wars Arcade.

Star Wars Arcade is a game that you have to grow to like. The first few levels
are STUPIDLY easy, but after that it gets remarkably difficult. This game
is a blast two player, and if you fly from the "chase plane" perspective it
adds a lot to the game graphically. This is one of those games that isn't great
but grows on you until you like it *A LOT*. Considering it is literally a
first game I give it high marks. IMHO of course. As for VR Deluxe, I cannot
say enough good things about this game. Play it. The only way to really see
is to play it. The speed, the smoothness, the colors. WOW. =) For those of
you who have played the Genesis version, you will instantly be able to tell
differences.
