I keep forgetting about it until after the window of opportunity. I end
up setting the DC clock wrong so I can play it.

I also forget, but I end up not doing it for a different reason. At some
point a few years ago I let the save battery run down, so I lost a lot of
my important saves (Last Gladiator high scores, Dead or Alive costumes,
etc) and among them were my Nights files. At some point I need to run
through and unlock everything again.

I accidentally did that with my first save, when the battery
died. Now I keep all my saves backed up on the 5 in 1 cart
I got. I still have to eventually unlock everything again
though.

I considered it, but like KKC I let my Saturn battery run out and have
yet to replace it. I think I'll pop it in today just for giggles
though. It has been over ten years since I've had everything unlocked
anyway.

Having it happen to me as well, I can give you a solution that actually
works:

Take your Netlink, find a way to get back online with it. Email your
game saves to yourself, store them on your PC/Mac or on some web
server(I have a few Saturn saves on WAG for those wanting to unlock
Death Tank Zwei on Duke 3D). Once done, anytime you need said saves, get
back on with the Netlink and download them back on to the system.

Believe it or not, it really works...

The CR2032 is the most common of those small-ass batteries. In fact, if
you have any VMUs(opened or not), they use that same battery...and it'll
last a *lot* longer in the Saturn, I promise you that. ;)

You can also get a thin slice of plastic to put between the battery and
the contact in the Saturn, and only remove it when you actually play the
system...
