Will Tekken 2 for Saturn be possible ?
> Will Tekken 2 for Saturn be possible ?
If Namco makes it, there's no reason TK2 couldn't be done on the Saturn.
(Maybe they could even get it up to a higher res)
Always remember...
Real faith is objective.
Namco hates Sega.
it seems like a conflict of interest.. Namco likes to quote Picasso a
lot, ie.. "good artists copy, great artists steal" or something to that
effect... Namco basically takes what Sega makes and 'steals' the
game... sure, they may call it something different and use some
different effects, but it is nearly the same when you look at all the
games Sega has released and then all the games Namco has releasd. I can
almost guarentee that Namco has released a game to counter every Sega
Arcade game released in the last 3 years... save maybe Air Combat..
then again what is Afterburner? Sky Target, arguably came out after Air
Combat, but that is about it... Not to mention if some people wanted
Namco they would have gotten a PSX by now... its nice to have them, but
I'd take Sega games over Namco ones...
Well they love money and they are a sega developer right? I like VF2 better
but would personally love to see Tekken 2 on the saturn. Does any one else
have info?

Heh, I think it's a good idea if the prices go down. They could even
mix it up with the game. The loading screen you suggested could show a
still of Jacky (Virtua Fighter 2) eating a slice of Pizza Hut pizza
backwards, just like in the TV commercials! Oh, no, it could get bad,
though--after Akuma (SFA, X-Men COTA) turns his back after winning,
instead of the Japanese symbol on his back, they could have the Pepsi
symbol! Or have a character shout "I'm going to Disneyland!" after
winning the tournament! Still not a bad idea, but it would probably
get abused, especially as you suggested that the price wouldn't go down
much or not at all. I would go for the loading screens, they would
actually be funny if they used characters from the game...

Actually that's already being done. Fighting Vipers has a
background that features a Pepsi truck. Though it didn't help it get
distributed to any of my arcades... Still it'll probably keep in the home
version (and that would be GREAT if it knocked down prices a little bit)
and maybe Sega will let Pepsi run an ad inside the manual, or some kind
of card. Maybe Pepsi will fund the commercial. Still I would love it if
it knocked down prices but only if it makes sense in the context of the
game. I could see Bug or even Sonic drinking a Pepsi but not the Undead
Hero. (I could see it though. "Arrrrrgggghhhhh!!!! Pepsi!!!!!!!") I'm
sure its going to happen. Just as hollywood hit vid games.
Over use of corporate sponsers could be funny though. Like in
Wayne's World. "You have to make a choice." "Yes, and its the choice of a
new generation!"

Yeah, but the whole point of doing it would be to LOWER game prices..
Sure, the company which did it might be dubbed as "Games with Ads" but
at $25 or less I really wouldn't mind... Sure some might be corny, but
I could see how it could work in sports games, just like in real
life... NBA Jam could EASILY have ads built into the backgrounds... We
see ads all the time, whether we like it or not, if it meant lower game
prices it could be great... but the problem is that it might only work
well if one company does it... though actually ads on MANUALS, not the
games themselves whouldn't be so bad... something like an insert or a
back page with ads... oh well.. I think if it made games $30 or less it
could work...
Last Bronx- Mineral Water Ad in Shibuya
VF Kids- Shun and Jacky drink "Java Tea", and there appears to be a new
"Java Tea" arena background
Fighting vipers- Pepsi Trucks
I think you should not hold your breath to wait for Namco titles to come
out on Saturn. Namco wants to become the #1 arcade vendor so Namco and
Sega are both in big competition. Besides I don't really need any Namco
titles on my Saturn.

Well, Namco has started making games for the N64, so maybe they will make
games for the Saturn too.
Torajima
It would be nice, but as others have pointed out Sega and Sony are
competitors in the arcade industry, so I doubt either one would want to do
any favours for the other. Other than the odd Rare title under the
Nintendo banner, Nintendo doesn't do arcade games so there is no such
competition between Nintendo and Sony.
:I doubt it. After losing Psygnosis, Sony will probably hold onto Namco
:like grim death.
Sony has no real hold on Namco. But Namco is for the most part a
"Sega-clone" company, so it is understandable that they might be reluctant
to go head-to-head with Sega. And since Namco has used the Playstation as
the basis for their arcade games, porting to the PS in effect costs them
nothing. But now that Namco is reputedly moving to a more powerful arcade
platform, the PS may no longer have the inside track. Personally, I'd like
to see Namco developing for the N64. A game like Soul Edge, which looks a
bit ragged on the PS, would look really incredible with the N64's
anti-aliasing.
It appears that namco is making PC games, too. Look for Rave Racer to
come out soon.
Remember, namco isn't owned by Sony, so they can make games for whoever
they want to. Cybersled was supposed to come out on Saturn, but it never
did. However, seeing that namco's most popular games are on PSX, I doubt
Namco will "Betray" Sony.

This is 1996, there is NO SUCH THING as Loyalty... The almighty dollar
will always win out... On Sony's PSX, Namco is basically the 'top' dog
of the system... there isn't a title of the likes of VF2 or Daytona on
PSX to challenge Namco games... Namco can basically do whatever they
want on PSX. Cruisin USA is about the only Nintendo racer that can
compare to Namco games... oh well...

"You weren't chosen because you are the best pilot in the Air Force. You were
chosen because you are the class clown and frankly, you're expendable."
Which is quite true... but I do not believe that completely rules them
out... on PSX they are basically 'top dog'.. On Saturn I think they
would be up there as well, but not nearly with as much leverage...heck,
I think most people still think Namco and Sony are one with how much
Namco and Sony have been intertwinned with the PSX...
Cruis'N USA compares to Namco's RR series? Ugh. Not in this lifetime,
buddy! If I get an N64 I'll go straight to rave racer...
