Stimmt, vielen Dank fuer die Informationen ueber PSX/Saturn und deren Spiele
(Right, thank you for the informations about PSX/Saturn and their games)

jpic> As of Jan. 20 we got Victory Goal, a polygon soccer game that looks

I played it, more fun than Fifa 3DO but not so realistic (I don't like
soccer too much, so that's all I will write about it)

jpic> real nice. 27th Gotha a war simulation game from Sega is coming out

Playable for a non-japanese speaking German with some
knowledges in english? :-)

jpic> 10th: Pebble Beach Golf Links
jpic> 17th: Popoitto Hebereke (more Columns-like sameness from Sunsoft)
jpic> 24: Rampo (FMV from Sega. They already made a mess of Wanchai
jpic> Connection...)
jpic> 24: Shanghai (Sunsoft, what again? In 32 bits? Boy oh boy)
jpic> 24: Some BS Mah Jongg game from Jaleco (the brand says it all - CRAP)

jpic> Oh forget it, I can't be bothered typing up all the losers, so the

Oh, that's all crap IMHO. I really hope for the other games to be good.

jpic> halfway decent looking ones are Panzer Dragoon, Virtual Hydlide, Side
jpic> Pocket 2 (Data East), Pretty Fighter X (Imagineer, an all girl fightng
jpic> game, SFC version was rubbish!!!)

Panzer Dragoon seem to be the only great one. I never liked
Side Pocket and Pretty Fighter X on SFC was really rubbish.

jpic> Van Battle (Sega = fighting game)

Could be good... I hope so...

jpic> Shinobi (Sega)

Can't wait.... Gimme Sega gimme! Hurry up but don't mess up the gameplay!

jpic> Cyber Race (Sega)

FMV? Megarace-like or what?

jpic> Daytona USA (definitely NOT Feb. 15 = I just heard from them today it's
jpic> 40% done)

sob... snif... My Saturn is very sad now :-(

:)

jpic> Night Striker S (Ving)

Any information what type of game that is?

jpic> Parodius (Konami also doing Baseball and Twinbee Puzzle Dama)

Mmmh... nice to compare with my PSX Parodius (less slowdowns to show
that the Saturn is the better 2D machine? :-))

jpic> Virtua Hang On (Sega)

Uuh... Gale Racer on motorcycle :-(

jpic> Darius 3 (Taito)

Yeeeahhhhhh! Shooter! Cool!

jpic> CVlockwork Knight 2 (IMO, the first one was rubbish, not anywhere near
jpic> as good as even the 8-bit Super Mario Brothers! C'mon guys, it's been
jpic> ten years since Mario!)

Mmmh, I'm still impressed by the GFX. I only think it was tooo short.

jpic> SF2 the Movie (Capcom also X-Men)

And Vampire (Darkstalker)?!?

jpic> Ray Forc3e (Taito)

Shooter? Yes?

jpic> Look there's a list of over 100 games supposedly in development. PSX

Fine, but other systems also have those lists, I really care
about the games comming soon.

jpic> has a list of like 120 titles in development, 3DO on the other hand has

Thanks for your first hand informations. You think the same way
about most of the games/machines I do. I hope hearing from you!

Take it easy :)

I've played it some at trade shows. It's only so-so, real nice graphics
but not much different than say Space Harrier. You get to switch the
vantage point four ways, front, rear and sides when you're warned of
incoming enemies on radar. The fact that you're forced to look at your
dragon (and presumably yourself) from behind when shooting forward
makes it really tough to see and dodge enemy shots coming from the
front. Lots of eye candy, but I sort of have my doubts about this. But
this is entirely IMO, if you loved Space Harrier then whoah boy this
blows by it at mach 5 ;->

> jpic> Cyber Race (Sega)
Looks sort of like a polygon racer with a futuristic look. Exists only
as screenshots so far as I can tell. Mechanical designs by Syd Mead,
the Bladerunner designer.

>
> jpic> Night Striker S (Ving)

This is the OLD Taito shooter where you take your UFO like sor go on
foot to blast enemies coming from the front. I'm pretty certain there
was a Mega CD version of this, and maybe a Sega version.

I'm not too sure about this one, I've had arcade freak friends tell me
the arcade version also slowed down some to make the game less
devastating with all them flying sprites. Me, being 30+ and with fast
fading reflexes have a bitch of a time beating the PSX G Parodius in
the easiest mode. :-(

> Capcom Vampire (Darkstalker)?!?
No word on this yet, it has been announced for PSX (development
apparently has gotten underway in early Jan, so we can maybe hope to
see screenshots soon). But to put a shine on your day, X-Men the arcade
version has been announced for Saturn.

> Ray Force (Taito) Shooter? Yes?
Yeah, haven't you seen it at arcades? It's a top view shooter kind of
like Namco's Nebulous Ray. It's supposedly good, I haven't played it
(see my comment on G Parodius Ñ I feel stupid going to arcades,
especially when I don't have to look very hard for grays in my hair...)

Other newer titles that look promising (no release dates yet):
Data East: Suiko Enbu (some figthing game based on Chinese legendary
warriors, it'll first hit arcades as ST-V system = arcade equivalent,
almost, to Saturn)
Compile: Puyo Puyo 2 (already available on MegaDrive, the original was
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine on Genesis, and will be Kirby's
Avalanche on SNES)
Sega: Astal, some mario-style action game with beautiful anime-type
graphics. Immense sprites. Looks nice. Don't know about gameplay yet.
Masaya: Leynos 2 (I guess the heavy mech side scroll action sequel to
the original MD game, I guess it's also descended from the SNES
Cybernator = released by Konami = which was a prequel to the MD
version)

That about covers the promising looking ones, I guess.

Uuuh, it's out for PC. It uses Comanche-like Voxel GFX. It's a biiiig
sucker! Avoid it! It really sucked on PC. If it's jsut a port: Forget it!

:-) I played the arcade version of Parodius 2. It has some
slow downs, but not so much as the PSX version. I think this
will be a nice comparing.

Thanks, I was getting worrier about my Saturn (My PSX get's
tons of good soft and my Saturn still has VF and a nice
soccer (I hate soccer))

No, our arcade never had it. I onlysaw pics in some mags (long ago).
I hope it's stunning (Raiden 2 like) with big bad extra weapons!

jpic> Data East: Suiko Enbu (some figthing game based on Chinese legendary

Again fighting... but if it's good... it's mine :-)

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
IMHO more fun than TETRIS!

jpic> Avalanche on SNES)

Coool, but I don't think I need a puzzle game for a 32 bit system
(that's something for my Genny and SNES)

jpic> Sega: Astal, some mario-style action game with beautiful anime-type

I hope it will be the gameplay of CLOCKWORK KNIGHT and wil be longer.

Yeah yeah yeah! I love CYBERNATOR! Yeeeahhh! Strike! VERY GOOD NEWS FOR ME!!!

Thanx, you saved my Saturn day! (Cybernator 2! Rayforce! Yaaahoo!)

Target Earth for the Genesis was one of the best OG games for the Genesis.
Though Cybernator was cencored for the U.S. release (assult suit Vulken had
one of the leaders commit suicide) it took the concept of Target Earth a
step farther (thoug it was much easier than TE). Konami's releasing Metal
Warriors (in the tradition of TE and Cybernator, but it's from Lucas Arts
not Masaya), and I love to see another mech action game from Masaya. Might
make me want to buy a Saturn when it is released here in the U.S. (as well
as when VF2 and Daytona USA come in CD as well).

OK, here're some more Saturn games that've been newly announced (and
worth our bucks ;-).

Capcom: Vampyre (yup, Dark Stalkers is coming! No date or price yet,
this year sometime. BTW Vampyre Hunter has been announced for the
arcade, no news yet, will be seeing it at AOU arcade show in Tokyo on
Feb. 22. Hang tight.)
Victor Entertainment: Keio Flying Squadron 2 ('95, the sequel to the
weirdbeard Sega CD shooter with that bunnygirl on her flying dragon.
Some people seemed to have liked it...)
Sega: Wing Arms (no release date yet, '95)

Some release dates:
Daytona USA, April 1
Panzer Dragoon, March 10
Astal, April
Shin Ninden (used to be called Shinobi EX), June
Virtua racing saturn sometime this year
VF2 later this year
Clockwork Knight 2, this year. (I don't understand the popularity of
this game. A supposedly 3D game in which the main character can't go
away from or move towards the screen? A supposedly next generation
action game with two buttons? A lot of nice graphics, yes, but that's
it. Me, I'll stick with my 8-bit Super Mario Bros, which still pisses
upon a lot of action games from a mighty great height! :-) BTW, these
are 'IMO' statements so ignore'm if they annoy your sensibilities OK?
Peace.

's about all. Oh yeah, PSX will be getting X-men so it appears Capcom
will be doing both systems fairly.

Uuuh long to go, I hope it's REALLY GOOD!

jpic> Panzer Dragoon, March 10

Ahhh, that's a near future... I hope it's same fun Star Fox was.

Until then we maybe have iur U64s...
