I heard NBA Live '95 is out for Genesis. Has anyone played this yet?
How does it compare to the previous versions?

Must get this title!! My opinion is all the previous versions were
horrible slow goofy animation that didn't feel like you were doing
anything. This version feels like you are on the court passing and it is
very very fast and playable. Anyone who liked the old versions must buy
this and anyone who likes basketball carts have to at least give it a
try....you won't be dissapointed

So this game definitely plays better than previous EA basketball games.
It's far from perfect but very enjoyable. Some notes:

* Shot blocks are a bigger part of the game. You can now block dunks
but maybe it's too easy to block dunks now. A lot of dunk blocks occur
when the dunk attempted is too fancy. Alley oop dunks are blockable
too. In the NBA, dunk blocks don't occur too often. In fact, there
should be more fouls on dunk block attempts. The jump shot blocking is
about right. You can't force a shot with a defender in your face. You
got to make a move using the speed burst to get daylight or you'll get
it back in your face. NBA Showdown '94 was ridiculous with jump shot
blocks. You could be shooting a 3-pointer but a defender in the lane
could block shots by lining up the shot angle. All in all, a vast
improvement in shot blocking. Goal tending exists as well.

* In multi-player mode, it keeps stats for each player. Multi-player
mode is the way to go. We had some 2-on-1 games and the sole player
could be competitive because the computer players defend or shadow the
players better. A lot of the features are similar to Sega's basketball
game from last year: speed burst, defense options, double teaming, etc.
EA stole some good features.

* Computer in All-Star mode is very tough. In one game, it shot well
over 80%. You can also turn off all the rules like shot clock, fouls,
out of bounds, etc. and have an NBA Jam type of game. THe computer
plays very well in this mode. You can separate players from the ball by
speed bursting into them and get steals. Not an NBA Jam fan but it was
a fun change of pace.

* Bugs: once in awhile, on an out of bounds play, a ball will be awarded
to one team and before the ball can be inbounded, it will be awarded to
the other team. Also, sometimes, even on crucial possessions, a pass
scrolling from the backcourt to the front court will be thrown out of
bounds because no one is there. It could be that we don't know how to
control passes but this happens once in awhile.

On saturday, I picked up the new basketball cart from EA, NBA Libe 95.
The game is FABULOUS!!! This game wasn't designed by High Score productions,
so don't worry about any programming flaws... there are no bugs that I have
found yet. It was designed by Hitmen, some group in Canada, and they did a
terrific job. The players are bigger, and the details are so good, you can
clearly all the colors on the uniforms, not just two. The court perspective
is angled, so you can see all the holes in the lane and set your plays up
accordingly. Tons of offensive plays, and the computer is HARD, even on
medium difficulty. I'm currently playing with the Sixers, and I've barely
been able to keep them above .500. You can also trade players, but only the
starters. Also, since the rosters on some teams weren't full when they made
them for the game, some bench players have names like "Roster Pforward" and
so on. The game play and graphics are very similar to FIFA, but alot bigger.
You have to see this one for yourselves... it's gonna be a classic!

I agree....this is what I've been waiting for. Some people are
bitching (of course) about it being too easy to score baskets. I think that's
bullshit...it's a simulation. Ever notice that this game plays a LOT like the
real game? It's great, especially head-to-head...
