Hello, I'm the same guy that wrote that little "Impressions of DC" thing a
little farther down the line, and being an EB employee, I get to play it a
lot. I live in Illinois, about 60 miles south of Chicago, to answer one of
the questions, and to answer the other, every single employee that works at
EB with me has already put a DC and at least one game on Pre-Order, so
needless to say, they are all very, very impressed. We seem to finding
ourselves racing against each other in Sega Rally (I'm the store champ by
the way =) ) just as much as we seem to be helping customers! And all the
customers ask about it, we've taken many pre-orders on the system already.
And we have Crazy Taxi in an arcade in the mall, and that game is so
awesome!! And we also have Blitz '99, Hydro Thunder, HOTD, and Soul
Calibur, so it's like an all out DC preview in the arcade, which helps sales
too. It's a great system, and I cannot wait until it comes out. Just
something of interest, we've got the Japanese version of Get Bass to play in
the store (AWESOME GAME), and the price of the game with the fishing rod is
90$!!!! Now I'm sure that's because it's an import, and no one ever tells
anyone it's for sale, because then we wouldn't be able to play it. So I'm
thinking that if they release that game in the States with the fishing rod,
it will price at around $60, probably more. Like I said the first time,
the DC is just an awesome system. And the weird thing is how small it is!
I don't know how many people have seen it, but the system itself is very
small. But it packs a hell of a punch. All I have to say is, if you've
got the money, BUY IT.

Ya knowledge is power I agree, but when that knowledge is biased or
distorted it creates rumors, rumors creates panic, panic creates dispare,
dispare will elad you to the dark side =)

I don't remember the name. I was in Dallas for a weekend in May for a
wedding. I'm pretty sure the store was at the intersection of Coit and
Belt Line (may have been SPring Valley). It was the northeast corner of
the intersection. There are two game shops on Coit near Belt Line/Spring
Valley. The first faces Coit and has no imports - fairly nice interior.
The one you want to go to is the other one, in an older shopping center.
There was a cigar or liquor store next to it I believe, since I remarked
to my wife about the old Cigar Indian outside.

I'll see if I still have the receipt at home.

OK. I found my receipt. The invoice says "The Game Boss", while the
credit card receipt shows "Game Force." Either way, it's at

376 Promenada Center
Richardson, TX
972-690-7529

Bought mine 5/21/99 for $69 and tax. A very good deal.

Well, at least have the courtesy to the rest of us to NOT quote the entire
message you want him to leave off the newsgroup. Besides which, I kind of
welcomed the info once around.

What I dislike is when an employee from EB or whatever comes on here and just
because they work at EB, they for some reason consider themselves an expect on
video games, and furthermore talk as if no one on here has ever played X game
or Y system.. That really wasn't totally the case with this past post, mind
you, but I have found it happens more often than not. I mean, I'm glad that
you are your store's Sega Rally champ, and happier for you that you don't have
to buy a DC to play it all day.. But I'd just as soon like to know when they
are going to stop taking pre-orders at EB before I see another post that just
sings the praises of a DC game .. since just about every post now a days does
that..

I've got to agree with that.

"Well I work for Electronic Boutique, and my manager says..." kinda funny, actually

We are all biased in one way or another. I am sure we all weigh Matt's
opinions based on the fact that he works at EB. Personally I like hearing
his point of view. It is nice to know what is selling well at his store and
what the employees think. I was just wondering based on the previous thread
about service though if Matt and the others are busy playing Dreamcast when
their customers are in the store. I checked with the local EB's (you
remeber the ones with good service). They said that they have a rule where
the staff is not allowed to play any of the interactives during their
shifts. They thought this was company wide?

That is company wide policy...as a matter of fact Software
Etc/Babbages has the same policy. However a store manager and or asst
manager runs the store the way HE wants to when the boss isn't around.
