It's totally unrealistic. First of all, planes are much too fast to be intercepted by ships.
Planes can easily fly out of range of the ships AA guns. Secondly, AA guns are defensive weapons.
The bombers were several hexes away from the ships and weren't attacking the ships. The CPU moved
its ships to the adjacent hexes and attacked the bombers.

Well...if you want to debate realism, then planes staying aloft for days
is unrealsitic too. The idea is the planes are in the vicinity of the AA
guns (ships, mobile or ground-based) so they get a crack at them. I think
the ship cannot move and then fire it's AA guns, right? If I'm wrong,
then it is unrealistic. But, in a turn based system, that is the way it works.
Planes can attack AA without too much damage, but on the AA guns' turn,
they get another strike. Now maybe the AA guns should be defensive only,
that would make much more sense. The ability for AA guns in a vicinity to
do this is good, since then the problem of only one unit hitting planes
does not occur. If the planes are in the airpsace, they should be able to
be shot at by surrounding AA guns, and not only one unit that gets attacked.
Only if the ships are chasing the planes. If they have crossing or skewed
vectors, the ships can fire at them.
>Planes can easily fly out of range of the ships AA guns.
Not true. While they can fly out of range within a few minutes, a good
shot will take out a plane in a few minutes just as well as it would in a
few hours. I personally had a Navy acquaintance who had a favorite story
about the time he shot a target that was only in the air a few seconds
with an AA gun.
>Secondly, AA guns are defensive weapons.
Maybe, but one of the cool things about life is the random spark that
makes pitchers hit home runs, that makes Indiana score 8 points in as many
seconds, and that makes ships attack bombers.
