:Can you tell me which is better for my children ages 7-14????
:
Nope. They're both pretty good. But here are some things to consider:
The SNES has slightly better graphics and sound.
Each manufacturer has a few popular games that are exclusive to that
platform. For example, Nintendo has the Mario games, Zelda, Metroid,
StarFox, Final Fantasy, Donkey Kong Country. Sega has the Sonic games,
Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Virtua Racing.
There is no upgrade from the SNES. The Genesis has the 32X, which brings
it about halfway to the Saturn. But there are only a few good games out
for it, and it's not clear how long Sega will be continuing to support it.
Sega is expected to release a portable system that will be compatible with
Genesis games.
There won't be a lot of new games coming out for either the (unenhanced)
Genesis or the SNES after this year, because the focus is shifting to
32/64 bit systems.
But there are already an enormous number of games for both systems, many
of them available at discount prices.
Hope that helps.

I have both a Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) and a Super Nintendo.
I would recommmend Super Nintendeo (SNES) for your children.
unless "someone" in the family would like to play "sport"-games
(fotball/golf/soccer).
The difference is IMHO not very big between the two systems and
alot of games are released for both systems.
Good luck!
BTW. You should know that both Sega and Nintendo is about to
upgrade for the next generation. Sega has already started and
Nintendo will follow next spring.

SNES or Sega Genesis I assume? Probably can't go wrong with either one.
