It's a shame that some of the best games are TBA. It should also be
noted that SEGA will release two football games on the same day. Strange.
Real Fighters and Mortal Kombat will be reased on the same day as well.

< Parts of SEGA-CD upcoming release list deleted. >

>Dracula Unleashed Sega 12/30/93

What's different about this from the original Dracula CD promised earlier
this year and shown at the Summer CES?

>Mircocosm Psygnosis 11/30/93

Is this one going to use software enhancement of the 64 colours available
from the Genesis/SEGA-CD hardware?

>Mortal Kombat Acclaim 12/30/93

Put the sounds back in and let it go for $45.

>Ninja Warriors Taito TBA

I heard the MEGA-CD version of this stank. Has anyone actually tried it,
and wish to confirm/deny this?

>Rise of the Dragon Sega TBA

Went from being due out early in 1993 to "We don't know if it will ever
be released."

>Sonic Sega 11/23/93

Almost a year to the day when the Genesis Sonic 2 was released. This date
I might be most able to believe since Sonic is SEGA's flagship product,
and they would be smart to have it available prior to the when the
holiday shopping season starts in earnest after Thanksgiving.

>Star Wars 3D JVC 01/30/94

Is this the Rebel Assault CD that is absent from this list?

Where are Out of this World I & II and Lunar the Silver Star?

Hmm. Four SEGA-CD games due out the day after tomorrow, ten more due out
by the end of the month, a total of thirty four (!) due out by the end of
the year. If they can get half as many actually out before 1994, I'll be
amazed. At least these release date lists are amusing to read.

J.A.C.

With all the current SEGA bashing that has been going on in this group about
the SEGA CD, I hope that this list stuns some of the bashers. Go ahead and
flame me. I can here it now, "You can't possibly beleive that these games
will be released on those dates..." etc. Your right if you do say that,
because I DO NOT believe those dates, but what "J.A.C" mentioned above is
the key point...

"If they can get HALF as many out..."

I bought SEGA CD on Day 1 when it was out and I have been itching for games
as well as everyone else, but to all that are bashing SEGA and SEGA CD, you
should think on one thing. SEGA is going to postpone the Saturn (or whatever
name they decide on) mainly to let the SEGA CD take hold and suck in the
gaming market. For them to do this, they obviously need GAMES for the CD.
BUT, christmas is coming, and if anyone knows how to market Christmas, it is
SEGA. I have no doubt in my mind, that by this Christmas SEGA will have
released a number of new CD titles for the masses. They could never expect
to sell more SEGA CD's this Christmas without releasing more titles by
them or by pushing third party developers to get the asses in gear.

I will be banking on the idea the SEGA more than likely will be releasing
half of the games mentioned in the list or others not mentioned by Christmas
'93. But I am not going to count out SEGA or the CD. AND, I am definately
not going to sell my CD. If I could pay $300 for the CD, I can find $200
somewhere to get a Jaguar. As far as 3DO? No system is worth that price to
start out, let me see some games for it FIRST!

Flame or respond, it really doesn't matter, because we have all seen SEGA and
there marketing at Christmas in the past. Sonic 2... SEGA CD... They
know what there doing, and something will have to happend this year on the
CD. There isn't any way the SEGA could be THAT dense after what we've seen in
the past from them.

Yep, I have to agree with you here. The way I see it, the Sega CD has
until Christmas to prove itself a worthwhile system, after that, the
Jaguar will be out, and the 3DO will have more titles out (hopefully
not more Bird's Life vol.8 etc)... And if the Sega CD hasn't established
itself by then, it will be forgotten.

BUT, as you said... Sega really gets stuff out for Christmas. Last
year was GREAT (Streets of Rage 2, Sonic 2, etc). And already, things look
promising. It seems pretty certain that Joe Montana CD and Silpheed CD
are coming out this FRIDAY. And these both look VERY promising, there not
even second rate crap, like Def Leppard - Make Your Own Video. Thank god.
These look to be good, solid, CD-QUALITY games. And Sonic CD is scheduled
for 11-23, and they will KEEP that date, no doubts whatsoever. That's
not only the date Sonic 2 and Sonic 2 Game Gear came out this year,
but two other titles--Sonic Spinball and Sonic Chaos for Game Gear, will
be out on that same day... No way they will miss the chance to roll out
3 Sonic games in one day.

Right, as for 3DO, no way in hell.. As for Jaguar, I doubt it.. I will
wait around a long while and see what comes out for it first, hopefully
by then the Saturn system will be lurking around the corner.. In the
mean time I will be buying new sega cd titles..

If it took the major title manufactures almost a year to complete the games listed here,
then how long will it take the same companies to complete quality games for
platforms
like the Jaq and 3DO. Remember we are talking about a quantum leap in technical
)specs. A step up from a simgle (multiple) CPU to a RISC or ditributed bus multi
coprocessor system.

I agree completely with this thread. I have written one other
follow up article in this group a while ago and it was in regards
to the Sega CD as well. It was a follow up to the article "Sega
CD is dying...", and if you would like to read it, I would like to
hear any opinions on that topic as well. Since I am writing a
follow up to this article, I'm obviously in full support of the SEGA
CD, or at least willing to give them until this Christmas.

I believe as well that this Christmas will be the make or break
for the Sega CD, and I'm very optimistic about it. From the rumblings
that have been heard over the past few days, it looks like the CD
could finally be swinging into the upside of its development cycle.
The most obviou sign of this is the tone of the Net itself. The
posts about people selling their CD and griping about the *unbearable*
one year wait for developers to learn the system have disappeared.
Posts like this have taken their place, and I for one am happy to
see the change take place.

The Sega CD is the transition step to the next level, no pun or
plug intended. Most people in the real world are not in a position
where they will live or die based off of having _the_ latest and
most advanced hardware. Most people in the real world will not
go out and spend $699 for a 3DO, at least not until it can get enough
out to prove itself. True the Sega CD is in the same position, but
that is my point exactly. How will the 3DO be able to prove itself
if people don't give it a chance to grow and **TIME** to develop.

So, until the 3DO develops, and until the Atari proves its
commitment, I will stick solidly by the Sega CD. Who knows, that in
itself could be the best move, because if the Saturn is downwardly
compatible with both the Genesis and Sega CD, everything will work out
nicely. And you know what, maybe Sega is banking on this idea too! :-)

Just my two cents worth..OK, maybe more,

I just received the most recent issue of GamePro in the post. Inside are
three two page ads, one each for Silpheed, Sonic CD, and Lethal Enforcers.
SEGA has scheduled to release Sonic CD, Sonic Spinball for the Genesis,
and Sonic Chaos for the Game Gear, all on November 23. As I said in my
earlier post, I believe the Sonic release dates since the Sonic products
are a SEGA mainstay. The Lethal Enforcers ad showed the outer carton with
a plastic tray inside which housed both the CD and the pack-in gun. If ads
are showing for individual games, it is a good sign. It seems SEGA has
kicked-off their holiday ad campaign.

With the release of SF2:SCE, MK, Landstalker, Shinobi III, Gunstar Heroes,
Aladin, &c., the Genesis should have a good showing this holiday. If SEGA
can make good on their CD game promises then they should have a *great*
year end.

Speaking of Sonic CD, does anybody have the same feeling I do that this
is going to end up being the CD pack-in game?(Of course there'ld first
be a mail-in offer for it) At least, that's what I'm waiting for.

I read yesterday, in an article by Ed Semrad, that SOA has refused to
pick up Sonic CD for this year in America. If it's true, then I recommend
you kids with the Sega CDs learn Japanese.

Yup. I can almost guarantee Sonic CD will end up being the pack-in
CD game. The evidence is overwhelming.

GENESIS: Altered Beast -> Sonic 1 -> Sonic 2

GAME GEAR: Columns -> Sonic 1 -> Sonic 2

SEGA CD: Tons-o-Games -> Sewer Shark -> Sonic CD

Just by looking at the pack-in evolution, it's easy to see what Sega
will do next...

I really doubt this since Sega has already taken out an ad. in Gamepro
to advertise it.(And the release date in the ad. is Nov 23. I guess
someone else will say something about a certain magazine not knowing
what they're talking about.)

BTW Speaking of not knowing what they're talking about, Gamepro
actually said that the atari 2600 & 5200, and the coleco vision
were all 4-bit.(I really think these mags should avoid answering
technical questions since they usually screw up.)
