Shadowman: How to get a dark soul by the fire temple?!?!!?

There are two by the entrance to the temple of fire; one on
the right, one the left of the pyramid. The one one on the right is
easy enough to jump to, but the one on the left is maddingly
impossible to reach. I spent HOURS trying to jump to get it, but it
doesn't work!!! I've checked the FAQ's, and it says basically you can
jump to both....WTF????

acquired the Gad Nager Tattoo, which allows Shadow Man to swim under the
surface of the yellowish acid-fire waters found in the game. When you
get to the top of the pyramid in the Temple of Fire, go to the very end,

I've tried reaching the left-hand Govi by jumping from the steps of the
pyramid dozens of times, to no avail. It may be possible, but I haven't
been able to do it. In any case, the route I've just described will lead
you to this particular Dark Soul, once you have equipped Shadow Man with
the Gad Nager Tattoo....

Don't believe the FAQ, I spent about an hour backing up, getting a
running start, jumping at the last second, and missing the ledge. I
finally gave up. Eventually, with all the gads, you can get there
another way, so don't worry about this one for now.
