Just rented it today. The first couple of levels seem
only so-so, but Ive only gotten to the river ride
and that monster you ride on is very cool indeed.

It's out people! Wow thats nine games for the Saturn now.
Robotica is said to come out on Thursday.

P.S. you only have 2 continues now with Astal once you
die.

Do the invincibility, etc codes work from the Japanese version?

Check out Http://www.anime.net/~gurupub if you don't have them.

$75!?!?!????!?!?!? That's outrageous if you're talking about the US
version. Why so high? I would probably buy it for $50, but $75??
That's almost 2 times more expensive than BUG!, and it most defenitely is
not 2 times better. What is the play control like? What game does it
play most like(i.e.-mario, sonic,etc.). Thanks for the review.

Hmm isn't the original poster from Canada? $75 Canadian wouldn't be that
bad.

That's true, I should've noticed that. But that still makes it around
$60 doesn't it? Still a lot after BUG!, but compared to cartridge it's
not. I guess I just got spoiled by some of the new low prices...

Welcome to Canada. Even the current crop of Genesis and SNES titles sell
for anywhere from $80 to $100 new. (There are probably a dozen titles for
each system that are being sold a few cents short of the hundred dollar
mark.) A new first release could be as low as $60 or $70 each, but that's
more the exception than the rule.
In fact, some stores are charging $75-$80 for BUG!, even though many in
the US have reported picking it up for $39.

To follow up on my own post after getting to play Astal up
to the end of the Volcaninc valley (before the third boss)
I'll make some observations.

IT IS the most beautiful game you have ever seen.
The colors, music (some tracks are just so dreamy!), parallax
and animations are fantastic.

There are only two continues listed, but most will find after
the second time of playing the game (like I did) that
you will likely not lose any lives until The River of Dreams,
and after that Volcanic valley.

I think the game is more fun than Clockwork Knight, the game
has quality written all over it, but the voice overs remind
me of Vay for the Sega CD, kind of cheesy, but at least the
characters dont speak in monotone.

Im not sure about the invincibility codes yet, but the game

came in late last night to some areas of the outskirts of
Toronto, so it should be out everywhere today.

I havent decided to buy it yet, its so beautiful and well

**** It's a standard 59 dollar title... cheaper mail order. Unbeleivable
gfx and effects... easier than Bug (thank god) gameplay I would say is only
so-so... and the Japanese codes don't work!! Arrg!
