Hi everyone,

I've been reading the group for a while, as I am thinking of buying a
megadrive II. But I mainly see discussions about the genisis. Could someone
please tell me what the differences between the two are?? Also I am getting
a little confused as some posts seem to indicate that the genisis and
megadrive are compatible (i.e can play genisis carts in a megadrive).

I am looking at the megadrive at the moment, it is selling for $149.. and
I am thinking of upgrading to the 32X when it is finaly released in
Australia.

Please help me if you can.

Sorry to trouble you all!!

Bye!

...BRAD....

No difference really, other than the fact that the Genesis is for the US
market, and the MegaDrive is for the Japanese market.
Whichever one you get, try to get the model with the headphone jack and
volume control at the front left. Most of the newer games and hardware
are designed to check which unit it's plugged into, and not work if it's
plugged into the wrong one. But the Genesis/MegaDrive with the volume
control and headphone jack can be easily modified to act as both.

Genesis is the American term for the Megadrive. Many of the games you buy
here are labelled "Genesis" but will only work in Australian machines.

Games bought OS will not, in general, work here :-(

Cheats/advice from this newsgroup, however, seem to work just fine on
any machine no matter where it's from.
