Hi there,
You are not the first the see this problem; in fact
a while ago you couldn't read this newsgroup without reading about
it. The bug is not that it only reads the last two digits but
rather that you cannot get more than 127 points in a season (It might
be 128, I never checked for sure). Anyways this is probably because
when the game was programmed they used a signed number instead of an
unsigned number. (using a signed number makes the value "wrap into
negative values past 127 if it is stored in a short which is likely
since an unsigned short has a 0-255 range which is sufficient for
keeping the number of points) Unfortunetally (sp?) there's nothing
you can do about it except make sure you never go over 127 points in
a season. (i.e. lose all you games once you reach 127).

bye

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem.

My friend and I have just finished our first NHL 95 season. He played
Toronto and I played Buffalo.

Toronto has 67 wins and 2 ties for a total of 136 points. When you
checked the league leaders, Toronto was rated No.1 in the league. But on
the divsion standings, the computer only read the last two digits (36
instead of 136), so Toronto came LAST in the division and didn't make the
playoffs. And let me tell you, after 89 games, my buddy was cheesed!

I, on the other hand, had 109 points on the season, was rated second
overall and won my division. The computer did NOT read the last two
digits of my score (09 instead of 109) nor did it read the last two
digits of NJ of PHI, who scored 106 and 103. However, I fear that if I
had won one more game, giving me 111 pts, the computer might have put me
last in my division as well, since 11 might make more 'sense' to the
program than 09.

Has anyone else has this problem? Is it just my friend's cartridge or is
NHL 95 terminally screwed up? Can it be fixed or should we just call
Electronic Arts and whine? *Please* e-mail me if you have any answers.

It usually after about 120 points that the glitch occurs. I was quite
pissed myself because I looked forward to the playoffs after the season
because the Rangers gave me problems during the regular season and I
wanted to face them to settle it once and for all.

I want to thank everyone who posted here or took the time to e-mail me.
I have two other questions.

Now that we have started the playoffs, I have noticed that the teams
don't travel between arenas (2 home, 3 away, 2 home). They play all the
games in one place. Is this the way the cart was programmed? If so, WHY?

Additionally, there have been many times when a penalty is called by the
ref, the other team has the puck and scores, and a player still goes to
the penalty box. Am I to assume that the ref is calling a double-minor
every time this happens? Or is it another one of these persistent bugs?

Thanks in advance,

If you have over 127 points, you go into last place. It is an oversight by
the programmers. Just select to end your season before anybody has that
many points... Nothing you can do about it..

There is another HUGE glitch in the software....a team can only
accumulate 128 points in the season....any additional points will
"roll over" the counter in the software (but NOT on the standings
screen) and your team will have 129+ points, be in last place, and
miss the playoffs.

I think this happens when the team that scores is on the power play. If that
is the case then the goal is a power play goal and the 2 minute minor comes at
even strength. In NHL 94 this didn't happen and it annoyed the hell out of me.
I'm actually surprised that they fixed that bug in subsequent versions.

Did you have a man inb the box before the goal was scored? If so the
first penalty is cancelled, and the new on will take it's
place.

...YES this game seems to be locking up and giving problems does anyone have any ideas regarding getting SEGA to take it
back ???? my nephew says he has problems after working for hours setting up a team when he tries to save it he can not do this
and the game locks up a lot ????
