Hello I would like to have an opinion on TLR. I have been reading posts
and many say that it pales in comparison to the PC version. Is it still
a pretty o-k game? I have never played a Tombraider game before but I
like action games, is this game good caompared to the others? I ask
because I know Tombraider has been a top selling game. Thanx for any
response.

TLR isn't too bad of a game. I'm not that far into it. Frankly, it
just doesn't "hook" me the way the first one did. Personally, I like it
better than parts 2 & 3. The controls take some getting used to. I
don't know how many times Laura jumps back when I push for her to turn
to the side. Little things like that are peeves, but they don't happen
enough to take away from the gameplay. If you're into Indiana Jones
types of adventures, then you'll like TR:TLR. Overall, I'd give it
around a 7 or 8 on a 1-10 scale.

I don't think anyone argued that it pales in comparison to the PC version -
if I remember correctly, the main complaint was that it was more of a direct
port with very little added to maximize the DC. It is marginally superior
to the PC version (they added shadows and, I believe, some more lighting
effects), but most people have either grown tired of the incremental
evolution of the Tomb Raider series or never liked it in the first place.
(I'm not really one of them)

If you've never played a TR game and like third person action/adventure
titles, you might want to give it a look.

Personally, if you've never played a TR game before, I'd just recommend
that you try out the original game on the PSX (or a good PC if you have
one handy). I think that one is still the best, and as opposed to the
others in the series, it doesn't feel "forced."

I never saw that, but rather, the reviews I read from gaming web sites and
mags trashed it (IMHO) unfairly because the game was a direct port from the
PC version with nothing added, which should have been NOT surprising.

To be honest, there are probably other reasons that TR has become so popular
(^_^;), but yes, I'd say give it a shot. However, it's been pointed out
already that the original is still the best of them all; I'd agree with that
and also add that Last Revelation is probably the best TR game since then.

If you never played a tombraider game I would suggest the first one, it is the
best.
