I've never ordered from them before, but I think you may be missing
something else: Are you aware that Buy.com sells USED games? That would
explain why yours was in such bad condition. They have such cheap prices
because their merchandice is used.

And you know this... how? Because what you ordered came
shrinkwrapped? I've got a shrinkwrap machine in my house, man, they
cost about $100. Anyone can clean up used merchandise and make it look
new. You can't expect a company to sell products below cost that
aren't shady in one way or another.

I bought my CD recorder and my sound card from them and I got them
both really quick and in great condition...
But can you reproduce the seal at the top of the jewel cases with the
sony hologram on it? Games that I have bought from Buy.com have
always had that seal on it. Now EB, on the other hand, doesn't always
have that. Also, Buy.com sells things at cost but makes money off of
advertising on their site. Plus, they are an internet company and
most of them regularly lose money in hopes of building up a large user
base.

It sounds like BUY.COM is a LOT like Buyrite Games...both are risky
places to buy things, because they have NO customer support, and are badly
run...

So did several PSX games I found at FuncoLand. All are empoty and often
w/o manuals. But many still had the seal intact, just peeled off to
allow the case to open.
If one are careful, you can peel off the seal and still use it again to
make the game look like it was not used. Sorry, but the seal aren't the
best "used game alert" indicator. Special shrinkwrap like the N64 games
uses are still more reliable.

The story doesn't end there! Today I received an e-
mail from Buy.com informing me that my Zip drive
order is on its way! Somehow someone in shipping
saw my returned broken zip and authorized the
shipment of a new one. I called and was told I
"probably" had been charged again for it, and that
I could just call for an RMA number to return it
when it arrives FedEx 2nd day air at my office.
Whatever tiny cash amount you save by shopping at
Buy.com isn't worth the risk. I've ordered stuff
from most of the major online computer stores, and
never before had this much hassle. My advice is to
stay away from Buy.com at all cost.

I've ordered a few things from them (games, a PSX for my nephew for Xmas,
etc.) and I've never had a problem. So, I guess if I've never had a problem
with them, I can't judge their customer service very well (I've never needed
them, and could track my shipments online).
I'll say one thing for them, they have some of the best pricing around, IMO.

Yep, Tiger Direct and Global are hands down two of the worst
mail order/online computer dealers around, IMO.
SS
Just because some guy thinks (note: thinks) that he got a used game from
them doesn't mean it is true. I would hazard a guess that selling something
"NEW" when it is really "USED" is a little illegal.
Too many of you are making snap judgements before you even try using them.
Their prices are low enough that they deserve a try.

Tell me about it. My brother had ordered a DVD from them at the beginning of June
and requested UPS ground shipping. Seeing that the ship from CA and I'm also in CA I
figured it wouldn't take long to get here.... It took 2 weeks to get it. Them
bastards.

Actually, I've ordered some cheap DVDs and a book, and my family has
ordered a digital camera. I'm still waiting on one of the DVDs,
unfortunately, but everything else came through without a hitch.
I've heard people getting empty boxes from stores in the past, but it's
not especially common. Did they make an effort for reparations?

Oh, come on. This is ludicrous. The seal on top is a great way to tell
if it is used or not. How in the world could you sell a complete line
of playstation games to thousands of people, when your only stock is
used videogames that ONLY still have the original sticker sealing the
case? I've never seen any place that buys PSX games used, but ONLY if
the last user was VERY careful and made sure they didn't rip the
sticker on top, and kept everything in good conndition, not bending or
writing on anything, no scratches on the CD at all. Where on Earth
would Buy.com get all of their stock if it was all used? If it was all
used, EVERYONE would know it, and they would be in bad shape. If
everything they sold was used, then all of the stuff I ordered would be
obviously re-shrinkwrapped, the manual (if present) would be worn,
maybe with some stains or pen marks. The CD would have a few light
scratches at least. As far as the original problem with the empty CD
case, this is a production problem. I'm sure Buy.com has a whole batch
that came that way from the manufacturer. It happens. I once bought an
empty DVD box. Same thing. No one is trying to rip you off. Buy.com is
not selling used products. Ridiculous.

They have great customer support! If you make a statement like "sounds
like...is like..." that means you've never used their services, so how
would you know? I purchased a digital camera from them, but the
manufacturere decided not to make any more in favor of a newer model.
Buy.com's customer support helped me out, in a very friendly way;
changing my order to the newer model (with a discount!) and even asked if
I was sure the compact flash card I had ordered (and recieved within a
few days of the original order) would work with the new model. That
shows concern for doing a good service, to me, and I've continued to have
very good service from them on other orders since then.
