I DON'T UNDERSTAND SOMETHING.
WHY NOT KEEP THE PRICE AT $250 AND TOSS IN MARIO64
WITH THE SYSTEM? ALMOST EVERYONE I KNOW WHO PLAN
TO BUY THE SYSTEM PLAN TO BUY MARIO64.

I think you answered your own question... why toss in a game for $250 when
the game and the system will be $260-$280? It's an extra $30 or so
profit.

Personally, I think Nintendo knows the "magic" $200 price tag, and they're
doing a Sega/Sony to appeal to the average gamer. I mean, most people
BELIEVE the N64 must be a terrible system because they reduced the price.

I don't think so.

They did it so they wouldn't just be able to take on the competetion,
they're grabbing the bull by the horns and will proceed to kill it.

(Don't get me wrong- I like my PSX and I don't like Saturn, but Nintendo's
doing this to kill the competitors in a {I think} possible attempt to
return to the "Glory Days of the ol' NES")

I agree, by not including Mario they can brag about system sales
as well as Mario sales. Plus the two or three people who dont want
Mario can buy another game.
Nintendo isnt stupid..just slooow!

The two people who don't want Mario? I think there are more than
that. I like Mario and everything but he is wearing a little thin on
me. I'd rather play another Metroid game or Zelda even. Mario 64
will sell good because it is a great game, but also because there
isn't anything else to buy! I'll be spending my money on Wipeout XL
and Street Fighter Alpha 2 until the N64 can get a software library
built up.

I agree up to the point about it Nintendo being slow. You think they are
really that stupid? Everybody was wondering if the could choke down the
$250 price tag while Saturn and Playstation were $200. Now they are all
even and you say, Wow! I will buy a Nintendo. At least that is what I am
going to do.

And your not sick of Street Fighter? Come on! They should have put that
to rest a long time ago. Why should people continue to waste money when
Nintendo will put out good games soon. They always have. Why would they
put all this time and money into the new system and forget about games?
The best is yet to come and I am glad they didn't put out a bunch of
crappy games just so they can say, Hey look! We have a decent sized
library of games at the N64's release!

What I meant was slow as in "taking forever to release stuff!"

I agree, Personally I never liked Mario but right now he looks
like the only game that Nintendo put much effort into. I happen to be
one of my initial 2-3 people that wont buy Mario, Its like I said before
it will be several months after the initial release before I hop on the
N64 bandwagon and by that time hopefully they will have something better
to chose from.

Oh my God; somebody's actually going to weait and see what software
comes out before making a decision? An Informed Consumer? Geez,
that's kind of a rarity...
