1) Have you completely looted the castle, the tunnels, and Stavery Tower?
There's some very nice armor to be found, plus a few other valuable
things. Once you finish floor nine, return home and save your game, then
go back.
2) Do you have any money saved away? Sell all unnecessary items and use
the cash to buy MP Honey, as much as you can find, and use it all on
Rooks. You'll need to cast Heal 3 on yourself a lot while fighting
Rimsala. In general, hack away at her with the sword until your hp drops
below 400, then cast Heal 3 on yourself at the soonest opportunity, then
hack at her some more, etc. If you're too weak or have too few hit points,
then just wander around, battle random monsters, and earn gold to spend on
more MP or HP Honey until you think you're ready.
3) You know that you can switch spirits in the middle of a fight without
using up your turn time, right? (by using the "call" option). Try to start
the battle with the real Rimsala with Efrite by your side. Have him cast
"Stomp All" the first chance he gets. That'll increase your attack
strength. Switch over to Marid and cast "Accuracy Increase All." Now
you'll be able to inflict maximum damage with your Great Sword, which is
probably the only thing that can seriously hurt Rimsala (spells like Wind
3 barely do 25-30 hp damage). You may want to switch spirits to cast the
Dodge All and Wall All spells too. Have Efrite and Marid cast their
healing spells whenever you're hovering low but not quite low enough to
warrant a Heal 3 spell on yourself. Note that Efrite's spell restores more
hit points to you than Marid's spell. When your spirits are badly hurt, I
think you can cast the Restore spell to get 'em back, but I never did use
that one.
4) Just before you fought Rimsala, you did completely heal all your
spirits and use a Tent to get your hp & mp at their maximum, right? ^_^
5) A last resort may be the Ruinous Mission spell. I've never used it, but
the description says that a spirit gives the ultimate sacrifice to save
you...
6) I think there is a stage select code that lets you begin at any stage
if all else fails. I'll try to dig it up if you like. It was in a book,
but I couldn't get it to work. There's also a sound test mode (hold
buttons R, L, & B at the title screen) just for fun. ^_^
7) The Arcana instruction guide gives a number you can call to order a
strategy guide. I'm going to order mine tomorrow (not because I need it,
but because I like to collect hintbooks for my favorite RPGs. :)
That's all I can think of right now. Anyway, the ending is unfortunately
not all that much; nice exploding tower movie, a little text, a few
pictures, and credits. The game's overall storyline was quite excellent
though. And the graphics were completely beautiful.
