Hi,

I thought Illusion of Gaia would be out be now. I haven't seen it
anywhere. Has anyone seen it in the store? If so, where and how much was
it? If it's not out yet, does anyone know when it will be out. I'm
really looking forward to this game, and I want to get it soon. Thanks in
advance for the help.

Well, I got a piece of promotional mail the other day for this game. Besides
other things,(You know, "Buy it, it's great. Here's a $10 coupon to make you
want it even more".) it lists the release date as

Sept 26

I guess you'll have to wait about a week.

You can find boxes for The Illusion Of Gaia on display in local
software stores, including Babbage's. The game is currently slated to
arrive on store shelves in 9 days on September 26th, so be sure to check
out your local retailer then.

As far as price is concerned, Nintendo Of America tends to have
cheaper prices for their software then their third-party licensees, so
it shouldn't be all that expensive. Probably around the price range
that Zelda III fell under during its initial release. The most recent
Chips And Bits ad had IoG listed at $ 62, so it'll likely be around that
target price or slightly above. The best option would be to check in
with your local software distributor and ask them yourself.

Illusion of Gaia was reviewed by Game Player's; it received an 82% (?) rating, which is good but not great. Personally though, I think GP does not know how to rate games since it rated Eternal Champions (one of the worst fighting games) a 97% satisfaction. Don't get into ratings, just rent it first and see if you like it.

I played Illusion of Gaia on the SFC, which I guess is basically the
same as the SNES version.

The game has length, and you'll have a hard time trying to finish it
in rental.

Gameplay is moderate. Zelda was more fun. Some puzzles are hard,
but combat is easy - easier and more monotonous than Zelda.
The items and special attacks in Zelda is in general more
fun to use than those you find in Gaia.

Story is Japanese style - somewhat arbituary. Healthy theme,
friendships and cutie romances.

Graphics about same level as Zelda: not outstanding as a Super
Nintendo game. Sound ok, but not impressive. Rocky and
Pocky had better sound and graphics.

Game is okay, but not outstanding. Zelda was better; FF3(SNES)
is better. RPG lovers should wait for FF3. Gaia recommended for
players who don't think battle is important, but like solving
puzzles.
