INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the Killer Instinct Super Nintendo FAQ. This is my second
attempt at a FAQ, with my first being a SNES FAQ for Mortal Kombat ][.
I tried to cover everything about the game possible, but of course I'm
only human and I might have missed something. Please E-Mail me if there
is a correction or something that might need to be added. Killer
Instinct was developed by Rare Ltd. and Nintendo of America, and has
been distrubted by Nintendo of America. Killer Instinct was released on
Wednesday, August 30, 1995. In a limited release of 2,000,000 copies, a
CD entitled "Killer Cuts" will be packed-in with the game cartridge
which has a Manufacture Suggested Retail Price of $74.95. Killer
Instinct originated as a coin-op arcade game, which was to have an
expected release of Fall 1995 on the Nintendo Ultra 64. With software
lacking and other problems arising, the Nintendo Ultra 64 was delayed
in early May to a new release date of April 1996. Officially on May 11,
1995, Nintendo has announced a Super Nintendo version of Killer
Instinct. All the blood, combos, fatalities, humiliations, Ultra
Combos, and so forth have remained in this faithful translation of the
arcade hit. Everything contained in this FAQ has been tested. I stand
by whatever I have written in here, and until proven wrong, I will
stand by it. Feel free to distribute this FAQ to whomever you would
like, but at the moment hold off posting it upon people's request. I
will be the only one posting it regularly and upon request for awhile.
This FAQ was developed to hel you and is in no way to be used for profit.

BACKGROUND STORY
*************************************************************************
A wind-swept battlefield of the distant past, littered with the debris of
war. Above the moans and cries of the defeated, can still be heard the
clashing sounds of a single titanic confrontation. Two great warlords,
leaders of their now smashed armies, are locked in battle, with the world
itself as the prize. But this epic battle is not to have a conclusion.
Suddenly, the warlords were engulfed in a nimbus of light, and vanished
from the face of the earth, banished to the realm of Limbo. The
battle-weary heroes whose spell had trapped the warlords, heaved a sigh
of relief. Armageddon had been averted, for now.
The Future: The world has seen much progress in the centuries since the
warlords were banished, not all of it for good. Pollution has weakened the
environment. Governments have fallen. Chaos rules, with huge mega-
corporations battling and destroying each other for shares of the world's
wealth.
In this bleak world, a single corporation, Ultratech, rises above the
others. Rather than joining the direct battles with their competitors,
Ultratech has profited from their suffering by selling them the very
weapons they use against each other. Sales of weaponry are not the only
source of profit for Ultratech however. Their entertainment division
produces the top-rated television broadcast of the future, the Killer
Instinct tournament, which serves as a testing for Ultratech's weapons.
The winners of the tournament are promised whatever they desire. The
losers suffer a significantly poorer fate.
It is into this bloody contest that our heroes have been drawn. T.J.
Combo, disgraced heavyweight champion of the world who seeks redemption.
Glacius, a captured alien fighting for his life and a chance to escape.
And the deadly robot Fulgore, programmed by Ultratech with a Killer
Instinct and the freedom to use it. Each fight for his or her own
reasons, but each has the same goal: win the tournament and destory all
opponents.
It will take more than radical moves and deadly special attacks to win
this tournament. It will take a will, a desire, it will take a Killer
Instinct.

WHAT'S MISSING/DIFFERENT?

- 2D backgrounds are now static with parallax.
- 3D roof backgrounds are now 2D static with parallax.
- Character sprites are smaller.
- "Ultra Comboooo" now changed to repeating "Ultra".
- "Ultimate Combo" now changed to repeating "Ultimate".
- No FMV clips throughout the game.
- Missing frames of animation from moves to humiliations.
- When Orchid does her cartwheel, her anklets don't flash.
- Less sparks when projectiles collide.
- No aura around Cinder or Glacius.
- No bats or skulls around Saberwulf or Spinal.
- Projectiles don't create smoke when hitting opponent.
- More later, cut short due to trying to get this out.

Just follow the path for each combo, and you'll know all the moves and
buttons required for it, and how many hits it'll produce. If you have a
great deal of trouble with the flowcharts, I left a comprehensive list
of Jago's combos in the FAQ spelled out move for move, so just pick a
combo and read it, following the moves through the flowchart. You'll
get the hang of it.

SECRET CHARACTERS

Eyedol - Pick Cinder as your character. At the versus screen
hold right, and press L, R, X, B, Y, and A in that
order. You will hear the announcer say "Eyedol" if
you have done it right.

Sky Stage - This can only be done in 2 player mode. When you select
your character, hold down and press B on both
controllers. Let go of them at the versus screen.
Random Select - Hit up and select when picking your character.
Turbo Speed 1 - At the versus screen, hold right and press L, Y, and X.
You will hear a sound that will indicate you have
entered the code right.
Turbo Speed 2 - At the versus screen, hold right and press R, B, and A.
You will hear a sound that will indicate you have
entered the code right.
Turbo Speed 3 - At the versus screen, hold left and press L, Y, and X.
You will hear a sound that will indicate you have
entered the code right.
Slow Speed - At the versus screen, hold left and press R, B, and A.
You will hear a sound that will indicate you have
entered the code right.
Easy Combo - At the versus screen, hold down and press start. You
Breakers will hear the announcer say "C-c-c-combo breaker" if
you have done it right.
Tournament - At the character select screen, hit select to bring up
Options the options menu.
Options - To change the options during game play, hit select at
the versus screen.
