Donkey Kong Country: Getting past the hornet?

My son has become stuck playing Donkey Kong Country at one of
the end-of-level guys -- a particularly nasty and hardToKill hornet
(or perhaps a bee). I don't know exactly what level this bee is
guarding -- although I'm sure my son could tell you. He is pretty
well experienced as SNES games go and he just can't seem to get
by this one bad guy.

Can anyone out there help me/him with a hint as to how to defeat
this thing. He would be very grateful (and I would be a minor
hero, too).

Hi Tom,

I think that the level is called BumbleBee Rumble. Anyway, All that he
needs to do is this: There are barrles that appear out of the ground. He
needs to pick these up and hold onto them until the bee is close enough,
then throw the barrel and hit the bee on the head. This will upset her
and she will start to fly faster. He needs to do this for about FIVE
times. This will kill her. The trick is to hit her on one side of the
screen and then run under her while she is up in the air and pick up a
barrel on the other side of the screen and repeat the process. Just keep
in mind that she will start to fly faster and faster with each hit so be
ready to react!

Donkey Kong Country: Getting past the hornet?

hit the bee with a barrel and then go to a corner. the bee starts going
up and down. the trick is to run under him as he gyrates into your
corner. then jump over the barrels and go to the other corner. he will
chase you, but by that time he turns yellow again, and will fly in a
straight line. at that point, grab the next barrel and hit him with it.
the key is do not try to
hit him with a barrel while he is red - it is fruitless. you need to hit
him 5 times. after each hit, he will gyrate a little bit faster.

well... you pick up the barrel and throw it at it...
then it gets mad and will start going up and down like
a sin curve ---> /\/\/\/\ like that... just keep going under the "wave"
you can just keep on going back and forth the bee will keep on missing
you, this takes a little practice to pull off.. after a few seconds,
the bee will return to normal and start flying around calmly, when it
comes down, jump over it, grab the barrel and throw it at it.. it'll
be mad again and repeat the previous step.. until he's dead

You can only damage the Bee with barrels, and only when he is yellow.
Once you throw a barral at him, he turns red and attacks. You must
dodge him for a couple of seconds until he turns back yellow again.
Then throw another barrel at him. YOu must hit him 5 times. When he
is red I keep my "y" button down and run like crazy. YOu have to time
his attacks to run under him.

It is alot easier to kill the Bumble B when you are Diddy Kong as he holds
the barrel in front,just run at the B till you hit him then stop .If you
hold the run button down it's easy to get
under the B when he is at the peak of his up-down red run, as already
said hitting him when red does not do any damage.
