Can anyone tell me the easiest way to beat Lavos Core? I
have been told to use Chrono and Frog, but are there any
little tricks to use? Techniques, magic, etc. I am not
asking so I can cheat. I am selling this game soon and I
want to beat it as quick as possible. ANY help is
appreciated in advance.
Thanx,
Jason

The key to toppling all three Lavos parts is the right bit, aka Active Life.
However, it keeps its defense up at first. To make it lower its defenses,
destroy the left bit using ONLY WEAPONS; magic heals it. When it goes down,
it's only a matter of time before Active Life lowers its defenses. When it
does, PUMMEL IT WITH THE MOST POWERFUL MAGIC ATTACKS YOU CAN. Even when it
recalls the left bit, KEEP ATTACKING ACTIVE LIFE UNTIL IT RESETS ITS DEFENSE.
Then hammer the left bit again until it collapses, the Active Life turns off
its defenses, etc etc etc...
Killing the center part isn't necessary, unless you get sick of it casting
all of those nasty powerful spells. Besides, Active Life will simply recall
it anyways. So...use my advice to bring it down, AND KEEP YOURSELF HALED AT
ALL TIMES. When the Active Life collapses, LAVOS IS DOOMED!!!

Good luck!!!

I like Crono, Lucca and Marle. Give Crono the PrismSpecs.
Concentrate on speed; give Crono the Haste Helm.
Attack the left bit with Crono's confuse. When it's dead,
have Crono cast Luminare and Lucca cast the mega fire spell.
Have Marle cast Haste and heal people. When the left bit comes
back, hit it with a confuse again and keep going.

Here's what I do. It's kinda bizarre, but it works. :)

If you used Ayla and charmed like crazy in that floating black castle
(sorry, forgot the name) where the Queen of Zeal hanged out, you should
end up tons of MegaElixers, maybe about 25+ total. Well, I kinda cheated
a bit... went to to 1000AD and cleared the place... then went to 600AD
and entered the palace again (getting some more MegaElixers). Plus that
allowed me to attack the Queen again, thus being able to get some more
Prism equipment. Then I went back a once more in time to 120000BC
(correct era?) and entered the Black Omen AGAIN! (yes, i remembered the
name). So in the end, I have more than enough MegaElixers to replenish
both my HP and MP.

Now, I use Chrono, equipped with PrismSpecs to up attack power of
Luminaire. I also used Lucca and Marle. So here's what I did: Ignore
the left bit and the middle thing and go casting spells like crazy.
Chrono casts Luminaire which took out 3k hp (level 60 right now) and
Lucca and Marle casts Antipode 3, taking out 4k hp (Marle-level 60,
Lucca-under level 60). That is a total of 7k hp per round. Haven't
tried it yet, but you can also try: Chrono-Luminaire, Lucca-Flare,
Ayla-Triple Kick. *shrug* For a level 60 Ayla, Triple Kick (single
tech) took out 3k hp. I don't know how many hp Lucca's Flare dishes
out, but if it takes out 3k hp as well, then a Chrono-Lucca-Ayla combo
should take out 9k hp per round. Of course if your characters higher level
than my characters are right now.... then that's a different story. :)
If you're like level 70+, I do believe if you equip Ayla with
PrismSpecs, the triple-tech Final Kick should take out 8k+ hp. I've seen
my brother dish that much out of that Giga Gaia (sp?) robot boss.

But why go spell-casting crazy and waste lots of MP? And why ignore
the left bit? If you think about it... wouldn't it be a waste not using
those 25+ MegaElixers you stole in the black omen three times? ;)

The Gold Stud lets you cast spells at 75% less than normal (that's 1/4 the
cost).

I forget exactly where you can steal them from, but it's easy to steal enough
to have one for every member of your party. Also, each party member should
have a helm, armor, or item that protects against status.

I just killed Lavos using spells (Luminaire, Antipode 3, and Flare if Marle
was busy healing, hasting, or using Mid Ethers) except for Confuse on the left
bit to do physical damage. No megaelixirs needed, ever. (Exception: In the
one where you're supposed to be killed by Lavos in the normal plot, Lavos is
exceptionally tough in its first stage and I did need megaelixirs--though I
only used them for healing. This also seems to be the only time where you
have to destroy the first stage even if you destroyed it earlier in the game.)

You don't want to ignore the left bit because it can remove your defenses
against status.

Incidentally, has anyone found any use for the Crisis Arm? I had Robo at
below 10 hp and it didn't seem any better than normal. And isn't it odd that
they left a transvestite in a Nintendo game?

(Anyone want to buy a CT or trade BOF2 for one?)

I think Square has it backwards. When Robo is within 10 HP of full
strength, his attacks are the STRONGEST. On the item description it
says something like "attck changes under 10 HP". I think they mean his
attacks change for the worse. I always try to keep Robo at 999 HP. I
think my Robo is at level 80 or so and does around 1600 damage with a
normal hit. Uzzi punch does about 4000-5000 or so. It seems to me that
the crisis arm is stronger than the terra arm or any other weapon. I
may be wrong.

That's a good one, but if you want to deliver the most damage, then I
suggest using PrimSpecs. Try this experiment: Luminaire w/ Gold Stud,
and then a Luminaire w/ PrismSpecs... which one dukes more damage?

Admittedly, it's a pain in the butt to always use MegaElixers to
replenish HP and MP as I wrote before, but that way, you don't need a
healer like Marle. Instead, you can use someone else who has a far more
single tech (combined with another char's single tech) than say a double
tech with Marle and another char. Why do a double tech with Marle when
you can do two individual single techs that when totaled up does far more
damage than the double tech?

Yes, Lavos is easy, even at level 50. I was able to beat him without
using MegaElixers around that level. But I guess I didn't state my
point very clearly. My chars are around level 90-** now (except Magus
who is still 80), and I must confess, I have grown to be impatient fighting
Lavos (I've been fighting him too much now so I can see the other endings).
All I want to do get over with it and kill the right bit as fast as I can.

SO... being the power-hungry type I am, I no longer use my healers, whom
I found to have very weak single techs. For example, I would rather use
Lucca's "FLARE", rather than Marle's "ICE 2" because her "ICE 2" does
very little damage compared to my other characters. Hence I use
MegaElixers now, which are pretty good since they replenish everyone's MP
and HP.

I have question, what is your layout on the "most powerful party"?
Post the names of your characters, their levels, their MagicLevel, eq., and
other vital statistics that contribute to their levels, the spells they
cast, and the damage of those spells.
