Hey,

The websights are stating that there may be 2 versions of Turok 2 out there.
One the earlier rev of the game that we played in TRU as a demo, and then one
that is faster, the right one that should have beem shipped.

Acclaim has stated that they think it might be the use of 3rd party
peripherals, memory card, controller, rumble paks ect. I'm sure they are
talking about the lockups people are having and not Frame rate problems.

Stores have stated that the game has come with no shrink wrap.

Anyone out there done any side by side comparisons with a friend who has the
game ? Hopefully the gaming sites will continue to look into this.

With everyone disagreeing about the game and writing back and forth argueing
about frame rates, wouldn't it be interesting if this turns out to be true.

I'm getting the game for christmas, hopefully if true, Acclaim will step up
and do the right thing.

What a surprise. Acclaim continues to pull this garbage and they get
away with it time and time again. If Nintendo had any guts whatsoever,
they'd fine Acclaim for releasing buggy games and rushing them out
before they're 100% releaseable---to have Acclaim do this twice in one
year is thoroughly ridiculous, not to mention a pain to anyone who has
what should have been a rejectable copy.

I know Nintendo's "Seal of Quality" doesnt mean much (of anything), but
if it did they should enact some fines or watch Acclaim in the future.
People shouldn't have to worry about getting a defective game for their
hard-earned $65!

just my .02,
Andy

Actually, it seems very obvious that a faulty game has little to do with
it...more likely, it's people with poorly installed RAM paks. The RAM has
to be very tightly inserted....when the N64 is used, it heats up alot, and
if not put in properly, the heat causes enough plastic distortion that it
bothers it's position in the slot. You'll notice most complaints of
lock-up are after an hour or so of playing.

Mine locked up until I took out the RAM pak and reinstalled it, really
firmly. No more lockup.

I still have not played Turok 2 yet. (It's under the tree for me.) But, as
far as not being installed firmly, that sounds like Bullshit. I have Star Wars
and that never locked up. Maybe mine is "firmly" in place, but maybe Turok 2
is just messed up like that, who knows.

The rumor about two different versions is complete BS. The first shipment that
Acclaim sent out was the unwrapped one, and there has not been time for a
totally new pressing. So, to assume that this unwrapped version locks up would
mean that EVERY game locks up. I'm sorry, but there is only one version of
Turok out there (to even suggest that the "demo" version got out is just
ignorant) and with the fact that numerous people have posted reinstallation of
the RAM pack has solved their lockup problems on various games, it really
doesn't require too much thinking to figure out what is happening. Now, it is
possible that a Turok cart has a faulty chip (as this is possible with every
game) but that is not the fault of ruched pressing, or anything else except a
simple faulty chip. Again this complaint shows how bent some people are at
hating this game no matter what they can point at. Get over it, don't buy the
game, and go make a better one for yourself.

Yeah! It was like the same way with War Gods! I was like "EH! GET OUT OF
HERE! IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT GET YOUR BITCH ASS IN THE LAB AND MAKE A BETTER
GAME!"

Mine locked up only twice, but the first time happened after playing for
only 10 minutes and the second time happened 30 minutes later (before I found
the first save point...). No further crashes since then. I did not reinstall
the RAM pak either. Rogue squadron gave me no problems so I doubt the RAM pak
was responsible for the lockups. I haven't noticed any Bad framerates that
people were complaining about eiher.
