1)the game is too short!
When comparing this game one thinks of SMW. Granted SMW is huge with 96 or
some odd number of levels. DKC claims to have over 100 levels. I, myself,
amd upset with this claim. When I hear 100 levels I'm thinking 100 regular
levels, not 40 levels + silly jump and grab baloons and bananas. But then
again most of the memory went in to the graphics and sound. Sure, I prefer
the secret exits of SMW and wish they were in DKC, but I don't think the Big
N wanted to make DKC like SMW in every respect. If SMW never existed then I
don't think people would complain about the brevity of this game.
Personlly, DKC does keep me asking for little more.
2)the game is too easy!
Yes and no. Actually I think DKC has just the right amount of difficulty.
Remember the game has to appeal to kids and overgrown kids like myself. I
think the game is easy in the beginning but I also think it gets very
challenging in the end. As far as being too easy I can draw a pretty good
analgy. We are pretty much used to all platform games. The play
mechanics from one platform game to another don't differ that much. i.e
SMW to DKC. Once you master one type of game then it's relatively easy to
master similar ones. For example, take Super Punch Out. How many out
there thought the game was relatively easy? I did. But I also was an
avid NES Punch out player back in the days as well. The play mechanics
for both games are very similar. After playing NES Punch Out all those
years Super Punch Out was basically the same thing except I had to learn
the new boxer's patterns. That's it. Before I even had S.P.O I was
already good at it. See what I'm saying here? So DKC may seem easy to
hard core gamers but just right to casual gamers.
Someone also mentioned that Shigeru Myamoto should have had a greater hand
in making the game. I agree. Although the guys as Rare did a superb job
with this, I also can't help thinking that Mr. Myamoto would have put that
extra special touch to this game like all his past classics. (maybe all
those secret exits:-)
Overall I am satisfied with my purchase. Nintendo always seems to put out
winners (although I have no clue what Tin Star and Uniracers are all about).
I would be interested in hearing any rebuttal to this.

Secondly, the part at the end where you beat the boss the first time, I
am sure that everyone (like I did) were mad that it ended so quick,
seeing as how my percentage was around 49 or something... then when the
boss got back up, I was happy, thinking that it was not the real boss...
then I killed him again... and it was...
After he got up, I figured there would be a whole other half of the game
to go through yet.

True, a lot of people have touched on this aspect, yet Super Mario
World made similar claims over four years ago, when in reality 96 levels
is rather an exaggerated figure. Every level with a secret exit counted
as '2' instead of '1', and some of them were rather chintzy, such as the
double exits on the Star Road levels.
Although, I sold my copy of SMW quite some time ago, it likely had
somewhere in the range of 65 levels... which is still more than Donkey
Kong Country. Of course, most platform titles these days don't ever
reach even 40-50 levels, so DKC can't really be frowned upon in that
respect.

Pardon my confusion, but all of these comments regarding the relative
ease of Donkey Kong Country are somewhat confusing. Albeit, that DKC
isn't hard to conquer (ie. 'beat the game'), but then neither was Super
Mario World. It doesn't really fall under the same category of
'extensive' difficulty for platform titles, as is the case for games
like Earthworm Jim and Aero The Acro*Bat 2.
And, yet, for all of these complaints, I have yet to see anyone post
a message stating that they've completed 100% of the game. Considering
how 'easy' this game is supposed to be, you'd think there'd be plenty of
perfect-game winners coming out in droves.

Tin Star is a western shooting title for the Super Scope, and
Uniracers is a unique racing title featuring unicycles, stunt
performing, and tube-like tracks... all with SGI-rendered graphics.
Tin Star is presently available, and Uniracers ought to start popping up
on store shelves on December 12th.
