Hi,

I'm looking for an adapter for the 8bit NES to play Japanese and US games on
a PAL-based machine. Anyone knows where to find?

What you need is a NES 72 - 60 pin adapter

Also go to this site to learn how to disable the lockout chip

I found out yesterday night that there is a retro shop in my town that does
the NES modification for free. So i'm going to try that. Thanks for the
advise.

Actually this is exactly the opposite of what i need. I have a PAL NES and i
want to play JAP/US games. Description on the site: "Use this adapter to
play your European or US Famicom games with the Japanese Famicom, Game Axe
or the Tristar 64". Any idea for the other way round?

Here is a link about finding one in a NES game cart
http://www.atarihq.com/tsr/odd/scans/adapter.html

Note however I bought the same game from funcoland near here. I didn't not
find one. I bought other games that they list that might have this
converter in it also. I have yet to find one with it. So I guess it is hit
or miss.

If you have a PAL NES do what I did and modify it!!!! Or better yet buy a US
NES thats what I did and modified it! Now I can play the games in the
correct speed in which they were designed to be played in and in also full
screen (no black borders). But you cannot get full screen from a PAL machine
nor can you modify it to play the games at the correct speed as it needs
another PPU chip. Thats why I went on Ebay and brought a US NES :). Also
make sure though that your TV supports NTSC. Over here in AUS all our new
TV's support NTSC, PAL, SECAM etc. Well mine does anyway an LG 68cm Flatron
:)... Now in regards to the adaptor cannot see why it would not work for...

Oh and another thing just about all NES games are NTSC based and the only
difference is the lockout chip installed in the cart as to where it was
released. Game code was never adjusted correctly. There is only one game I
know of where the game code was adjusted and that was one of the Super Mario
games cannot remember which one though. Not that it matters anyway as if you
have the US based NES you have the best NES ever made!!!!! Oh and another
the thing the Top Loading NES which I have three of and one is still brand
new in the box never seen the light of day, did not have a lock out chip
installed in it either. But I still prefer to use the US front loader over
the Top Loader as there seems to be an issue with the cartridges cracking in
the corners after repeadted use over time..
