Asking this question in the Nintendo group will get you a real biased
answer!
My opinion in short: If you have invested in the n64 for the long-term,
then I think you made the right decision as it will still be a viable
platform three years from now. If you want a wide range of good games to
choose from in the next six months, then the Playstation is the best
choice. I play my Playstation 5 times as much as my n64 at the moment,
but I expect a slow shift toward the n64 over time.
I think the most important thing is which system the kids want. If
they want the hottest item, the n64, and they get a PlayStation they will
be disappointed on CHristmas day.
Cheers,
Michael

I have all 3 next generation systems so take my advice. If they get many
more then say 7 games a year for their system then get a playstation. If
they get less then 7 a year then N64 is the better choice. N64 has less
games which are more expensive but so far seem a little better. Playstation
has a good sized library with some good titles as well and cost a little
cheaper. Saturn might not be such a bad idea though with the 3 free games
their offering and the ability to get on the net. It's a tough choice. If
possible get all 3.
Get the one your children want. Tip: Nintendo 64 is the second most
wanted toy this Christmas, Barbie being the first. Kids seem to be going
crazy to have "the best video game ever created." Keep that fine piece of
underpriced Silicon Graphics magic: I just know your children's faces will
light up so brightly when they see Super Mario 64 and here for the
first time "It's-a me, Mario!" WaveRace64 is also top-notch, probably the
best racing game of all time, "the one game that has any chance of
stealing Mario's crown."
Best of Luck, Sir,

Depends on why you are having second thoughts. Afraid there won't be
enough games? There are over 100 games being developed for the system
right now. Playstation does have more games, but the are of vastly lower
average quality, so if you don't have much sense of how to choose good
games you should probably keep your N64. If you do know how to pick 'em
than you are safe either way: there are plenty of good games on both
systems. I, personally, own a N64 and am very happy with it. My friend
owns an N64 and a Playstation and he hasn't touched his Playstation for
almost a year. He is very happy with his N64, though. He spent several
days straight eating, sleeping, and breathing Super Mario 64 until he
finally got all 120 stars (it took him over 100 hours). You certainly
can't go wrong with the N64. The Playstation will probably serve the
purpose, too, though.
Alos, beware of your kids scratching the CD's: it's bad news.
I suggest you go and rent games for both systems for your kids and see
which they seem to prefer. Then go with that system. Simple, easy, but
it works!

Return it!!!
Buy a Saturn or Playstation...
If you really want a N64 Give it another year. The N64 will not have a
game worth purchasing until the 64DD comes out.
The money you save on games will pay for the N64 next year if you still
want it. Otherwise you will have games with little depth..
I am not going to tell you either. You should decide for yourself.
Don't pay attention to what the advocates for each system say.

Ya right!

What a load of CRAP! Mario, WaveRace, Shadows of the Empire, or name
a few are are the BEST games out there then any other system!

Why are you even in this area. You don't have a N64, or don't like
the N64, whats your problem? I don't have a Saturn or Playstation,
and I'm sure not in those Newsgroups, posting how much of a pile of
outdated crap they are. There's just no point in it.
No one gives a crap what YOU THINK! I say buy the System YOU/HE/SHE
likes! Anyone can go to TRU or whatever and play the system and make
up there own mind. Simple as that.

What's your problem? The original poster wanted opinions of what system
he should get, why are you slamming this guy becuase he said PSX or N64???
He answered the question...thats it!

And what else guy? Nothing! Mario is good..but no replay value (IMO).
WaveRace is an excellent game. I do not have Shadows, but there is a wide
range of opinions on it. Some people say it is a must buy, while some it
is too short, too easy, and boring. The N64 has nothing else out that is
any good. MKT and Cruisin both suck. Although some people say Cruisin
grows on you. I would hardly call these games the 'best' of any system.
PSX has (in the last month or so alone) Wipeout XL, Tomb Raider, Twisted
Metal 2 (my personal favorite game...beats Mario by a mile in terms of
replay value), Legacy of Kain, Soviet Strike, and NBA Live 97. Those are
GREAT games...and they all came out recently. So IMO, I think the guy
gave a valid opinion, and that is what the original poster asked for. SO
BACK OFF!
