Brain Lord - SNES??

Hi, Im on level 4 of the Ice Castle in Brain Lord and Im in the room
just before the flood gate control room with three presure plate on the
ground and a message on the wall that says, " To open door, the secret is
on your control pad." I just cant understand what to do or what to do
next and I would realy appreciate some assistance from anyone who would
be willing to give it. Thanks!

Move to the square right in front of the door, and while facing the door press the X button. The three switches are just a diversion, disregard their existence.

Actually this message is much older than 15 years. It's 18 years old! If it was posted in 1999, it would have been 15 years.
