You know, it's funny. I just read the advertisements for Chrono
Trigger in magazines (i.e. EGM, NextGen, GamePlayer, GamePro...etc). It
"claims" to give you "70 hours of game play". BLAH! I played the
Japanese version when it came out. The first time I played it I finished
the game in 22 hours (game time). I played the game for about a week and
that's about it. I tried to do everything in the game (finishing 6
tasks, clearing Black Dream...etc) and I did. But 70 HOURS(?!??!) NO
WAY! Just have to wonder how much they blow up the "life" of a game.
And YES, Chrono Trigger is shorter than Final Fantasy VI (I used 35 hours
on FFVI the first time). Sure, you can replay CT with a "stronger new
game", well, to get the 10 different endings. But I'm not gonna play CT
over and over again to get the 10 different endings, maybe a couple
months later, MAYBE. The graphics, music and sounds are definitely
better in CT than in FFVI, but the "playing time" of CT is shorter, even
though CT is 32 Megabits and FFVI is 24 Megabits. I guess the extra
"megs" went to the graphics and stuff? :-) Anyway, IMHO, if you RPG
game player is looking for something to play after Final Fantasy III, look
for the English translation of Breath of Fire II. :-) Now, THAT's a
challenging game!
