Help! I'm stuck at the end of Slip Slide Ride in Donkey Kong Country.
I can get all the way to the end (where you see the signpost with the
big red arrow, I mean).

There are two red (down) ropes, and it seems that the exit is UP
from here. How do I get up???

E-mailed replies are best, but posting's ok too. Thanks!!

First of all, a FAQ is a document that answers (F)requently (A)sked
(Q)uestions.
In order to make it up the 'down' ropes in this level, you have to jump off
the rope, and then back on again. This CAN be done on one rope (if that's all
there is) but if there are two 'down' ropes together, jump back and forth
between the two.

Jump from rope to rope. Each jump will put you a bit higher than
where you started. Done reasonably quickly, you can progress up
the ropes. You can tell your doing it right if you get a banana
on each jump.

You have to press down "up" on the control pad and hold it while jumping back
and forth very quickly from rope to rope before you start sliding down the
ropes. You will notice that the ropes move toward and away from each other;
it's easier to do this back-and-forth jumping technique when the ropes are
moving towards each other because they are closer together and your jumps get
you higher. As soon as you are high enough, jump to the right and to another
rope (i think); the point is to get pretty high up by jumping back-and-forth
and then jump off to the right.

Note: The letter "G" in KONG is then at the top of a SINGLE down rope. This is
even harder to do, but try jumping away from the rope and then back towards it
in mid-air. Eventually, you will get to the "G" at the top of the down rope.

Good luck!____________________________________________________________i/:ui

One way to stay on the down rope without falling down is to press
'up' arrow key and the 'Y' button simultaneously. The other, obvious,
way is to pause the game. Use one these techniques between jumps. This
way you can take some rest between the jumps.

Alas, I cleared this level, but lost all lives in the next level.
I have to start all over again in the snow level.

To climb the dual "down" ropes, jump back and forth between the two
quickly. Each jump brings you a little farther up the ropes, until you
can jump off to the right.
