Nintendo 64 in bad shape for now.

As far as I can see, the only good titles out now are Mario 64,
Pilotwings 64, and Waverace 64. I personally love Pilowings but others
might not. All the others are in NO WAY worth the amount that they are
selling them for. The only other quality game down the line before the
rest of 96 is Shadows of the Empire and this one I heard is not as
spectacular as many people expected. NG reported that it took them 1 day
to complete the game and the 1st level was the best playing level. It
looks like many people will be importing Super Mario Kart R. Very bad
trend setting: limited amount of games, high prices for those games,
especially if they are from a third-party ($79.99-$89.99 range or more)
because they have to pay Nintendo the royalty fee and for manufacturing
the $30 carts, and games not being up to par with Mario 64.
Solution: Fuck the stupid 64 DD and bring out a proprietary 6x or 8x
cd-rom drive attachment including the additional RAM upgrade that was
planned with the 64DD and bundle it with Super Mario 64 2 and sell it at
around the same time next year for $149.99. Prices on these faster
drives should fall like memory prices when DVD is out. And as far as
DVD, that will be in video game systems at the turn of the century. A
DVD PSX-2 very possible by the year 1999 or so.

I'm surprised no one expected this.. I certainly didn't expect much
from any of the third party games. Yes, Nintendo's in house titles
are spectacular, but there are only three of them.. I am still waiting
for the N64 to be worth it to purchase, carts or no carts. Definitely
not worth it for me any time soon. Wayne Gretzky an arcade game?
Bleach, if I play a hockey game I want it to SCORE like a hockey game!
No way do I want to see a score of 10-8.. That is not a hockey score
to me.

TRU sells for 74.99 and babbages for 90.
Killer Instinct gold presells at tru for 69.99.
Should be much cheaper at Best Buy.

It seems that Nintendo wanted to aw' all of use with their first titles
instead of bringing out 'good games', they brought out nice shows. They
bosted a lot of talk, in the end thay do have a good system, I guess, but
they have 3 games!? Lets ignore the number of games and talk about the
games they do have. Wave Race is more a ride than a Game, which is o.k. but
is this what we must exspect in the future? I don't care about doing tricks
on a Jet Ski as most others I guess or seeing fantastic images of whales
swimming with us. I have seen a Japanese Arcade game, what Nintendo tried
to copy from, and know that it was 5 times better! It had more to it to!
Mario 64 had virtually no story to it, but it 'sure was pretty!' so when do
we exspect to get 'games' for it? I really really really really want one,
but the game cost alone is enough to make my lunch revisit! The price of
the system is right in the alley, though. Have you seen the new Saturn
comercial for the system with 3 games? Imagine NIN doing this! Talk about
sad! O.k. I really hope N64 gets games in the future!

Yes, but the game's visuals are what makes Super Mario 64 what it is.
It's not loaded with gameplay featuring bloody ripping of spinal cords out
of the backs of opponents. It was probably made to showcase the visuals
and freedom of movement, and to introduce the public to a new type of
graphics processor. That being the case, don't you think a Mario 64 with
less visual effects would be a completely different game?
I think your favor of CD as the medium of the program is baseless. CDs
can hold 640 MB of data, but the access time is slower. Cartridges
require specially programmed chips, which hold less information but read
must more rapidly than a CD. More information does not make a better
system, but how the unit can use the provided data is key.
Finally, why do you want Mario to have "full voice?" What could Mario say
that could possibly enhance the game? "Heya, looka at-a that-a." BFD.
Perhaps the best thing you could buy for yourself instead of a new game
system is a good dictionary. Try learning to spell words sometime. I
could spell better than you when I was five years old.

Uh, as I write this, there are 8 games: WAVE RACE, SUPER MARIO, PILOT
WINGS, MKT, KI GOLD, CRUISIN' USA, GRETZKY, and STAR WARS: SHADOWS OF THE
EMPIRE. I own the first three and the last one in my list. I have played
all but MKT and CRUISIN'.

The games all could be; perhaps some of the cut-scenes and non-gaming
graphics would be cut. Programmers get lazy when they have too much space.
Not using CD was a tough choice for Nintendo, I am sure. Do you want
quantity? Do you want cheap? Buy a SPS. With the 64DD you will have mass
storage and speed of data transfer.
