Banjo-Koozie has just been released here in Australia and before I
buy it I was wondering if it is harder than Super Mario to get thru
each of the worlds.
I would be purchasing it for my 6 yr old son, so is it a game he
could work thru the worlds himself (after he knew what to do..that
is) or would he just get lost in all the complexities of it.
Also..another question...Cruising world is to be released here in
Aussie land in August so I presume it is already released in the
States by now, what is this game about ? and would it be suitable
for a 6 yr old.
thanks heaps for any replies

Altough the games (Mario - BK) are very similar. I would concede that Banjo is
a bit more difficult. Not only do you need enough pieces of the puzzle, but you
need to find te puzzle to fit them before you can go to that level. Also, some
of the later levels, Click Clock Wood especially use techniques that require a
bit of thinking and logic that may confuse a small child. Otherwise, the games
match up pretty well. Banjo is better looking though...

Personally I thought Banjo-Kazooie was a lot easier than Mario 64. Your son
shouldn't have a problem.

Cruising World is actually coming out in Australia first- it will be released
here in the US in September.

It's a racing game and a sequel of Cruising USA, which was not very well
received. The sequel supposedly will be better, but you might want to rent
it before you buy it, if possible. Also there are animals you can run over,
which might be too violent for your son.

I'm not totally sure which is really harder to play or not yet.. in
many ways they are fairly similar, though I would say that I'd guess
Banjo's jiggy's (instead of stars) and notes, while in some ways harder
than stars in Mario, are sometimes also far easier to get too.. I'd say
Banjo would likely take less time to beat, but with all the secrets and
stuff, will likely last longer play wise...

I think it depends on what your son is good at - solving puzzles or
jumping around. Banjo seems more like a thinking game. There are more
puzzles to solve and things to do. You have to keep track of where
you've been because you'll most likely have to go back again to unlock a
secret. The overworld can be a bit confusing, and you can get lost.
However, there aren't as many platform elements in Banjo as in Mario (at
least not so far... I'm only half way through). There are few places
where you can fall to your death and have to start over. My wife can
play Banjo without asking me to help much. In Mario she turned over the
controller if there were tricky spots where it took precise control. It
really depends on your kid. I know my nephew wouldn't be able to handle
it simply because he doesn't have the patience. Banjo would be a great
game to play with your kid. It's visually stunning, so even if he
wasn't playing all the time, he'd probably have fun watching.

You may have to sit with him to READ the text that's shown on
the screen. If he's a slow reader, he won't be able to read
those. Personally, I don't recommend this game for your 6 year
old because of the above, plus some of the content in this game
isn't really for VERY YOUNG kids.

No, Cruisin' World isn't released in the U.S. yet. I think it
won't be released here until sometime in August or September.
And, of course, I can't comment on it since I haven't seen it.

If you want a game for your kid, I would recommend YOSHI'S STORY
instead.

Banjo-Kazooie is alot funer then mario 64 and it would probly be sutibale for a
6 year old the only part that i dont know if you would care is kazooie shots
out eggs from his behind and if he plays it alot then he would get the hang of
it. Over all its a really fun game.

Hmm. I have completed both Banjo-Kazooie and Super Mario 64, and I thought
Banjo-Kazooie was slightly harder. Neither one was all that difficult, but
the enemies in BK are harder to defeat and items can be harder to find. The
jumps in Mario 64 were a bit more difficult, but BK has lots of narrow
walkways and your charactor doesn't grab onto the edge if you fall. I
suppose it just depends on what you're good at.

The first really hard to acquire jigsaw piece, IMO, doesn't show up till
level 8 -- the one between the propellers. So I agree about Mario being
harder in general.
