In the world of ruin when you find Cyan in his cave sending letters
to the Maranda girl, there is a locked treasure chest. I found the key
outside to the fight of his room (where you go on the mountain(Zozo) to
right"
meet him)
It's in the upper left corner of the scene it twinkles so it can be seen

Inside is a "Machinary Manual" and a "Book of Secrets"

my question is : How do they affect the game and ha anyone else found them!

Actually, it doesn't affect the game. I'm sure that everyopne has found
out that they can unlock that treasure chest and found that Manual of
Machinery. I think it was some kind of funny situation since all that time
before they started searching for Cyan, Cyan was improving his skills on
knowledge on Machinery. If you notice, throughout the entire game he was
not at all familiar with all types of machinery.

Hi,
I got these two items also, but I also don't know what they do.

In article <4j6m50$k...@news1.intercall.com>, er...@intercall.com says...
The two items you find are just something you find. Cyan, the
self-proclaimed machine hater, is reading up on them. They have no real
effect on the game.

And if anyone's interested to know, that book is supposed to be a
girlie magazine :)
I think the English version censored it a tad bit, but in the Jap
version, it's a 'ecchi na hon' which means a girlie magazine :)

yeah, they don't really have a function. the irony of the machinery
manual is easy to see. the humor of the book of secrets is lost in
translation tho - in ffVIj it's actually a book of pornography, which of
course is the last thing you'd expect someone like cyan to have . . .
