Then we'll move to MK3 for the Ultra 64:
With Sony securing the exclusive rights to MK3 for the 32-bit and
higher platforms for 6 months, many people wondered what the NU64
version would be like. Apparently, Mortal Kombat 3 for the Nintendo
Ultra 64 is going to be exclusively based on the September Arcade
upgrade.
---
On to Cruis'n USA and KI:
The only part of the Killer Instinct game that is 64-bit, is the Main
CPU (Central Processing Unit). And, that is NOT the same processor
that is the brains behind the NU64! Plus, all the extra features that
Arcade KI had were done in software. The home NU64 will be able to do
the extra features in hardware, resulting in less burden on the CPU.
Absolutely NO part of Cruis'n USA is 64-bit. And, NONE of the NU64's
built-in hardware features were used in C'USA either. Plus, neither
one of these games take advantage of the 64-bit RISC Reality Immersion
Graphics Processing Unit. The GPU houses all the special effects that
will make the home NU64 games look so amazing! Expect both of these
games to be severely *UPGRADED* for their home release.

Ninteno-heads don't understand the difference) :>

That's your problem right there! <g>
Look-- the U64 will be awesome, you've stated this several times; but it will
never:
o Play PC-quality _large_ role-playing games
o Provide a demo-disc that comes with magazines
o Have real-time good music (Wipeout's was done by several British bands)
o Get ports easily from the PC (Bullfrog anyone?)
o Have multiple-cart games (Like multiple-CD games, which are feasable)
And don't bother with a bunch of replys about the notorious "Mass Storage
Drive" because it'll be an add-on and there's no guarantees as to how many
people will buy it or support it.
Case closed? (God, I hope so)

> o Play PC-quality _large_ role-playing games
*FF3 and Chrono Trigger are the RPG's around.
> o Provide a demo-disc that comes with magazines
*You can RENT the actual game (which will cost LESS than buying a mag
with a CD), you can NOT rent PC games.
> o Have real-time good music (Wipeout's was done by several British

*Huh? The U64 will have awesome music as well.
Here are some things that PC's WILL NEVER have:
- Real-time 3D games (unless you buy a Pentium/120 with 32megs of
ram)
- Arcade-quality games
I own a PC, it's great, but for REAL gaming...U64 is for me.

Hmm... with PC games, you can get shareware.... get part of the game for
free, or low price, then buy the rest of the game. =)

*laughs really hard* =) REAL gaming?! =) hehehe... obviously, you never played
that many games on the PC.... real time 3d games... yep, possible... not even
with p120 and 32 m.... ;) *then again, that combo would be better than u64*
Arcade quality? =) Like I said, you have't played that many.... =)

Both KI and Crusin will be as good as the arcade. KI will be better.
Crusin' can be better, if Midway wants to improve on it...

Why?? Its pretty acurate.
> o Play PC-quality _large_ role-playing games
Final Fantasy is good enough for me. And when the Bulky drive comes
out, it will have "PC quality RPG titles". Square im sure will make a
FF game for it, and that alone will sell it in Japan.. Square even
something for the SNES CD I believe, and it never even came out. :)
> o Provide a demo-disc that comes with magazines
Who gives a fuck?
> o Have real-time good music (Wipeout's was done by several British bands)
If I want good music while playing a game, Ill put Slayer or Megadeth
in my CD player. U64 will have good music BTW, just not music that
should be on a MUSIC CD.
> o Get ports easily from the PC (Bullfrog anyone?)
Don;t care about them, really.

The Sega CD sold around 1 million units didnt it?? Sega has done a
HORRIBLE job supporting it, with both marketing and games. You can bet
Nintendo will support there addon, and will release lots of good games
for it. The Sega CD was also WAY over priced, and still is, and it did
decent considering who Sega handled it.

Get a clue on the industry. 3D boards, not the least of which a
750,000 t-mapped one by Lockheed (which designed Sega's Model 2) have
been announced and will be shipping in the next few months for under
$300. SEGA has alrady announced they will be porting Saturn and
Arcade Titles (including VF2) to PC's using the new Nvidia 3D
accelerator chip. Now, you can argue that this is not worth it when
you can get a complete next-gen console system for the same price, but
the capabilities of the PC in this area are going to be shot forward
dramitically.
And "real time" 3D games? Christ, the PC STARTED IT. Remember a
thing called Doom? I can play lots of great first-person perspective
games quite smoothly on my 486DX2/66, thank you.

Well then
guess you havent read any of the specs on the new 3d accelerator cards..
namely the lockheed monstrosoty..
(although its not a good benchmark, ill use it anywys)c
clocked in at 750,000 tmapped polygons a second..
outclocks sega's model 2 boards, and is up there with the new game boxes..
AND its gonna run around 180 dollars..

*Gee there seems to be a little problem. The chipset will cost $300,
but they are NOT selling chip sets only. Other companies will make
boards for the chip set. Ask them how much it will cost with the board.
$3,000!!!!

*I'd like to see Cruis'n USA on a PC. That NEVER going to happen unless
you spend $3,000. Not worth it man. Isn't the U64 *only* $250? That
sure beats $3,000!
Boy, are you guys getting confused. Call up Lock Heed, and ask them how
much the WHOLE board will cost, not the chip set only (chipsets are
NEVER sold individually). They told me around $3,000. A little too
much, especially when a $250 U64 can do the same.

It appears you are getting confused.
Those are their high-end, 3D modelling boards. That is their high-end
chipset, NOT the version of which others are speaking of.
The boards based on the R3D-1000 (the 100 is the game-oriented
chipset) often have 8 megs of VRAM, and 8 megs of DRAM for the texture
buffer- for a total of _16 megs on the card_. No wonder it costs over
$2000, especially when it's targetted at the high-end 3D rendering
market.
That, and the low-end chipset, not to mention ones by Nvidia (which
Sega has announced their porting their arcade and Saturn titles to),
Yamaha, S3, etc- are totally different beasts intended for different
markets.
Did you call LockHeed? Look I was interested in their chipset too, but
when I called and the lady told me that it was $300 for the Chipset
ONLY, and around $2500-$3000 for the board, I immediaely forgot about
it. Call first. The Nvidia board is another story, that one is $350.
The lockheed one isn't. Besides, you have to spend $2500+Nividea to
compete with the U64 or PlayStation, which are at $300 or less.
Is it REALLY worth it?

Sure, a computer is $3000 and NU64 is only $250 but do you use your
computer just to play games?
Well, I really wish that you guys didn't have a computer and only
played with your NU64. At least, we wouldn't have to read your
posting here every single day!

Whoa....there's Vega Sisters now? Oh my.......Well,at least they're
bashing the Bros. too,so maybe they're not so bad. :)

No, the game boards will be under $300. That is not the chipset of
which the poster spoke- plus those boards have 16 megs (!) of ram on
them. They are not directed at the game market.

Why Cruis'n USA only? I'd rather see Daytona. And I likely will.
But if it doesn't happen, I will likely pick up an M2 or 64. I was
simply informing the original poster than the PC's 3D capabilties are
taking the next leap, and _many_ companies are involved- Lockheed is
simply one.

AHHHH.......but my friend you forgot Waterworld, Akira, Alien triology
and a Mario game, which Nintendo promise to be amazing!
I don't think that Ace Driver is going to converted for the Ultra 64.
Because of the Namco and Sony deal, Namco arcade-games are going to
be converted for ther PSX. DAMM!!!!!!
