Perfect DArk, what's great about it?
1) When you shoot at wall...you can see bullet holes (that's realistic baby!).
Where as in Turok game, you keep blasting that S#*! and there is no hole to
be seen. It just gives you the sense that the bullet is not very strong after
all.
2) Perfect Dark's environment is REALISTIC BABY! Much like the world we live
in...ah it feels good to be familiar...unlike ancient ruin in Turok.
3) 3d Surround Sound..(Now you're talking real lethal weapon sound).
4) Graphics are crisp and detailed unlike Turok where it ain't crisp at all.
It is nice and smooth in Turok, but it ain't crisp. For comparison sake, Zelda
has some crisp and some smooth graphics.
5) A possible co-op mode.
6) Gameplay is FUN (should have no confusing level designs!)
7) Multi-mode can only get better!
8) Dynamic lighting (hmm..hope they add dynamic weather effects..like rain and
sunny and cloudy like Zelda).
The producer of the first Turok game left Iguana shortly after Turok
came out. This might be why Turok 2 falls short of the original.
If you can't wait, get other good games. like Zelda 64 or Golden Eye.
Same troll.

your theory Sub, why even get FF8, FF9 will be better LOL. You are a downright

if nintendo says perfrect dark is 1 year away, add another 2 years to
it.

Rare is making Perfect Dark. As far as I can remember, they've always been
on time and early on a few occasions (Wasn't Goldeneye released a week
early?)
Doug
Yeah, Goldeneye was released about a week early.... after being delayed for
about two years.
Actually, the producer/project leader of Turok 1 was David Dienstbier, the
same guy who was producer/project leader on Turok 2. You're confusing him
with Rob Cohen, who programmed the engine of both Turok 1, QBC, and part of
the engine of Turok 2. Rob left to join GOD and is working on a mud racing
game.
I realize that the comments below aren't yours, but I wanted to quickly
comment on them, too... :)
> >How about most disappointing game ever right behind Yoshi Story. This is
what Turok 2 is. It sucked and here is why.
The problem with Yoshi was longevity. The game was to short and some of the
puzzles were toned down from the previous game. T2 improves over its
predecessor in many areas, the most important being longterm play value. The
multiplayer modes are very good.
> >1. Awful, horrible, pathetic framerate. This is really pathetic folks.
Not all the time, though. There are some really rough spots, however.
> >2. Boring, lame levels
The first level is the most boring one. Play level 3. I hardly consider big,
hulking creatures jumping out of the dark at you to be "boring".
> >3. Poor design on the levels
To a certain extent, the level design is too confusing. There are also
touches of brilliance, though. I'd have preferred smaller levels, but I
hardly consider them poor.

Err?

Ya lost me now...

Then don't buy the expansion pak. It's not required.

Yep.

Yep.

What? Name some games were creatures take cover or react to weapon impact
points by looking at them.
> >11. Unoriginal control
It's the Turok 1 control, which was pretty original I thought...

I haven't read a bad review yet, but I agree that both GoldenEye and Zelda are
better games. Since they are probably the best the system has to offer, that's
really a moot point, though. :)

PS: Please folks, play games longer than 10 minutes before passing judgment on
them.

Actually, Rare is almost as bad as Nintendo when it comes to delays.
Goldeneye was originally supposed to be a launch or near launch title
(it came out almost 1 year after the system came out). Banjo Kazooie
was supposed to be out last November and ended up coming out in July
of this year. Conker's Quest was supposed to be out in December of
last year and no one knows if or when it will come out. The only
game that moved up in release was Diddy Kong Racing.
Of course, IMHO, their games are worth waiting for.

Hmm, well, I don't think it was to be released in 1995 :) Well, anyway,
I'm glad they delayed it, because during that time they changed it from
being a rails shooter to a first person shooter, and added multiplayer.
See, good does come out of delays! :)

#
#1. Awful, horrible, pathetic framerate. This is really pathetic

Lies. I saw it at ECTS, the framerate was poor, but I have seen newer
versions since then and it has improved considerably.
#2. Boring, lame levels
The level design was fine to me. Certainly better than the hideous
platform jumping from the first game.
#3. Poor design on the levels
See above.
#4. Stupid, goofy looking monsters
Can't you be more specific than this? Also bearing in mind that your
opinion on the monsters is purely subjective.
#5. Dumb objectives
Such as? Examples would be nice once in a while, you know.
#6. Turok 2 + expansion pack + controller pack=3D over $100 TOO =

Then don't buy it.
#7. Choppy, choppy, choppy.....
You are starting to repeat yourself.
#8. Confusing levels
What is it you find so confusing about the level design in Turok2?
#9. Levels too long
Too long for what?
#10. Poor AI
Now you're showing your true colours as a mindless troll. You know
damn well that isn't true.
#11. Unoriginal control
Define "unoriginal".

In a way, i can see his point about it being a fancy Doom clone.
It might look nice.. but running around collecting keys might
irritate me a bit. From what i've heard, it would have been cooler
with creative mission objectives.

First mistake, AOL boy... Don't speak for others! Secondly, acclaim really
does suck, so I have no problem with it!
Just ignore him. Have you read any of this guy's other posts?? He
accounts for about 90% of the posts that make these ngs often feel like
a refuge for the socially awkward. The other 10% are from some
attention-starved ng-phile named Gargantua Blob(or it's some 'cool'
alias like that). I say ignore these people so they leave, don't reply
to them at all. I want to feel proud to be part of the company on these
ngs, but I can't while society's rejects are getting so much attention
from all of you.
BTW, I was referring to that Subzero kid.
I feel the problem with Acclaim's Turok 2 is that the carts are defective or
your cart or console needs to be cleaned. I mean if you really think about
it dust can get in the N64 or on the the pins of the cart and the only way
for it to function right is to clean it.
