Hi,
Could any one tell me if game cartridge that works on Super Femicon
can work on my SNES? Are they compatiable?
Thanks,

Nope, your SNES will not be able to play the SFC games. You are going to
have to buy a SNES <---> SFC game adapter for around $20. Now, there are
2 small plastic pieces inside the game slot. If you take those out could
that work? Hummmmm.....

Actually, if you remove those two pegs, Super Famicom games will work
perfectly on the Super Nintendo. Use a set of pliers to do it (be careful!).
I did and play japanese games all the time (DRAGONBALLZ 2 makes sf2 and mk2
seem like total wimps!!!)

Yes they ARE compatible, if you remove the two plastic pegs in the SNES game
slot. Use a pair of pliers to wrench the little suckers out (careful!). I
did and play Japanese games frequently. (DBZ 2 makes sf2 and mk2 look like
child's play!)

That's a good question. I just poped open my SNES <---> SFC game adaptor
and found two "patch" wires that alter the traces between the SFC cart and
the SNES bus. I too have always heard that all you needed to do was
"break" the tabs inside the SNES to use Famicom carts...but now I'm not
so sure.... However, as Peter said, it's a problem easily solved by a
$15-$20 adaptor.

Hehe.. I just cut out the tabs in my SNES to play DBZ2... pain in the ass
to do it though. If you try, make sure you have really good scissors =)

Why not just use a Game Genie (if you own one of course) Unscrew it, and
voila, instant game adapter and it does codes :)

Besides, If you file them alignment may (i say may) become bad on
cartridges and you may end up putting them in and out. But I digress, it
must be only slight owing to the size of the cartridge slot as to not be
a problem in say 1 of 10,000 tries.

And if you wanna get em down, hardware stores have excellent sanding
tools and files :)

also a sharp ginsu or other warranted knife, or maybe a thin ass wood
chisel might get them off with one push :)

Just thoughts, as I will try the tab-off route soon :)

There are a few things you could do:
Safe ways:
- Forget about the Japanese games (the wimp's way out)
- Use a cartridge convertor (available for $20, or use a game enhancer
like the PAR or Genie)
Semi-risky ways (Involves permanently altering equipment):
- Break off the lockout tabe in the cartridge port (push the door open,
they're the two little tabs sticking out in the back of the slot)
- (Do as a rental place in Phoenix does) Take a soldering iron and
lightly touch it to the cartridge where the game's plastic will hit the
tabs, the plastic will melt out of the way. (Don't hold it there too long!!)

Yeah, but all of their warranty repairs cost damn near what a new system
costs anyways. Besides, I bought mine used for $45 I don't think it will
harm me too much when it falls apart (2 years and counting)

Besides, game companies don't warrant jack with the warrantees, read them
- they basically say You break it tough luck, and if it breaks by itself
for some reason we may fix it for a nominal fee. :)

Gotta love modern times!!!
