I'm not sure what generation we're up to now, fifth? I was just
wondering if anyone knows or has heard when the big three are likely
to bring out their next generation of consoles and who do you predict
will be first to do so?

The reason I ask is because I know the Wii and the other two consoles
have been out for quite a few years now and I am conscious that the
next ones could be coming along soon.

I have seen the Wii advertised on television with the new Goldeneye
game.

I've not really been into gaming for several years now but Golden Eye
makes me think you got to buy one just for that game. I am debating it
in my head though and have second thoughts because if a new line of
next gen consoles is on the way then am I buying this one when its at
the end of the line and just before I see a big price drop or am able
to pick it up used even cheaper just for that one game?

The way I see it is that Nintendo really won that last round because
they brought a value product to the market with some innovative
features like motion controllers and they stuck to the plan of making
something for the whole family but especially the young kids. It
suceeded because people especially families could afford to buy it for
their kids whereas the other two from MS and Sony were extremely
expensive even a couple of years after first release and despite
having superior graphics they didn't have much in the way of
innovation like Nintendo had.

Can Nintendo continue to innovate though and will they now be able to
bring out a new console with more powerful graphics to bring it up to
date and competing graphics wise with MS and Sony? The Wii was just an
update to the GameCube IMHO and a rather good and innovative one to
say the least but there is no escaping the fact that the graphics were
the least superior of all three consoles.

Do you know if a new generation of games consoles is on the way
anytime soon and if so is it a mistake that Goldeneye one of the best
games ever previously (on N64) has only just been released near the
end of life for the Wii?

If a new generation is on the way imminently then do you think we will
be able to see an even better Goldeneye for that too? Take advantage
of the better graphics processing power on a new gen console?

Do you know if the current Wii console has a light gun you can use
with Goldeneye? And is it easy to use motion controllers with that
game? I can't imagine so but never having had a Wii or used such
controllers I don't really know. Nintendo wise I have a NES a N64, a
GameCube and a GBA.

Cheers for any advice you can offer to this multitude of questions.

We're in the 7th generation of home consoles. I would think that the release
of the 3DS will prevent NiN from dropping anything for at least 2 years.
This Wii has much life left in it now that MS and Sony are trying to grab
sales with motion controls.

The Golden Eye Remake is really fun and it's probably the only thing that
people are playing online for the Wii. The graphics aren't as top notch as
the other big 2 systems out there but still Nintendo seems to always be on
the fore front of gaming innovation. Japan takes gaming as seriously as the
West takes religeon. All the best stuff we get here in terms of games are
typically out in Japan for a while before reaching us.

As far as Wii accessories, a light gun isn't something I've seen. I do know
you can get a chuck holder in the shape of a gun for FPS games and such.

Get a Wii and a classic controller and you can sell your Gamecube.
