Played Frogger, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Popeye, Space Invaders,
Punch-Out, Mat Mania Challenge, etc...
FANTASTIC TIME!!
However, I have a question. While there I saw a banner with a picture of
Bill<someone> who had a perfect Pac-Man score of 3,333,360 back in 1999. I
didn't know Pac-Man ended. Does it have an end or does the score just stop
registering? Also, was this mentioned last year in RGVC? How did I miss it? :)

Lucky you. The most arcades have for classic games are Galaga and Ms. Pac-Man.

After the 255th board, the machine just goes on the fritz. And I believe
this was actually mentioned in quite a few major news sources.

Still trying to get 250,000 in Galaga
Still, it was a grand old time, and there were a lot of classic machines
there, from Alpine Ski and Zookeeper to Punch-Out!! and Champion Baseball. I
would highly recommend that if you can arrange it, that you make plans to
attend next year... it's a lot of fun and you can meet some great players.

I don't know how you missed it. Twin Galaxies saw to it everyone on
the planet heard about it (or at least had the opportunity to). You
can find the press release at www.twingalaxies.com under Press
releases (under the "About Us" heading) dated July 3, 1999. (PLUG: I
reported it in the CVG News on the CVG Nexus, too.) Back when it
happened, TG printed a note in the Breaking News section each time a
major media outlet reported it (including _Time_ magazine), but I do
not see those in their archive.
Walter Day (TG's owner/head referee) actually called me and linked the
two of us with Mr. Mitchell to answer some of the questions people
were asking on r.g.v.c back then. I wished I'd recorded it. But
anyway, a perfect game is scored by eating every single dot,
energizer, fruit, and four monsters per energizer (on the boards where
they change) on every board. Then you get the split screen. You must
eat all the dots on the unscrambled half of the board and nine (IIRC)
dots on the scrambled half. Not all of these dots are actually
visible, it seems. Then you die, but those nine dots come back, so
eat them again and repeat until every life is gone. (It's a good
thing Pac-Man only gives out one extra life.)
Billy Mitchell has become involved with TG in a big way since his
pefect game. He is currently trying to score the world's fastest
pefect Pac-Man game. You can hear more about that on the latest Back
In Time webcast (www.backntime.net).

Oh, yeah...I hit there too. :) Nice to see 3-4 arcade buildings strung together
like that. My son and I also got a kick out of the water slides and the
Go-Carts on the next hill.
There's not a hell of a lot I don't know about that area. Been vacationing
there every year for 20+ years now. First with the parents...now with my own
timeshare. :) There's even a junkshop that I always noticed but, until 2 years
ago, never went into. He's got a LARGE selection of NES games but all are $5
each. I was very selective of what I bought when I went in.

I wish that there was a place like Funspot
near my home in Sioux City Iowa. :-(
I have to rely upon both my licensed games
and my game emulations to get me by. :-&
Most of the arcades and pizza restaurants
around here that have coin-ops are only
the new machines. :-@
I miss playing the original Space Invaders,
Pac-Man, Galaxian, Frogger, Xevious,
Asteroids, Donkey Kong and Zaxxon. :-(
Could someone talk to them about seeing
if they could franchise?
