I was wondering if someone has hacked the Activision Classics disc for the
PSX. It seems to me that this would be the ultimate classic gaming machine,
since it can be hooked up by s-video and the multitude of add-on joysticks,
game save abilities, etc.

I was thinking the Activision Classics disc could be easily changed to play
different games, burn a new copy and play it on a "chipped" PSX. (I remember
the Activision Classics disc for the PC was hacked to play other games.)

Has this been done, or thought of?

I'd love to play demon attack on a s-video connection...

I believe The Activision Classics for PC had a bunch of roms that were on
it, all that I think would have to be done is replace x rom with another
one... I'm not sure if thats how the Playstation version worked.. Toss the
cd in the computer and hunt for any .bin(I believe thats the Atari roms
extention) files like rivrraid.bin or whatever else the game came with..
These are just ideas mind you...

The emulator on Activision Classics sucks. Even if it could run other
ROMs, you wouldn't want it to.

A buddy of mine has one of those Z64 deals for his N64 (zip drive mounted in
unit that plugs into the cart slot), and he showed me MAME for the N64. You
could run any rom that would fit on the zip disk... Doesn't seem like it would
be that big of a deal to compile the MAME code to the PSX format and put it,
along with a front-end, on a CDR with roms... Of course, you'd need a mod chip
to play it...

Do you have a link for the N64 MAME?

Agreed the emulation is poor. But I for one would like to be able to play
other 2600 games on my PSX.

Didn't Sega say they would publish a, for all intents, a Saturn emu for the
Dreamcast?

Bah, get a Dreamcast...Easy to port for and *most* systems have
already been emulated on it.

2600 hasn't been done yet, but I do recall an article in a mag right
when the DC just came out...The guy had ported a 2600 emulator and
just for the fun of it ran 6 copies of it at a time...with each screen
rotating on a 3d cube!

Check out http://www.dcemulation.com/
Here's a quick list: (a good bit of these are in beta stage, but most
are playable)
Gameboy (1)
NES (1)
SNES (3)
PSX (3)
Neo Geo (0-1)
Neo Geo Pocket (1)
Spectrum (1)
Genesis (3)

Plus I personally have tried out the mp3 player and the mpeg player,
both work great.

and don't forget about the NetBDS port :)
don't have a keyboard yet, but soon!

Then email Activision or Infogrames to come out with a new one.

Cyberpunks Entertainment has tried to get hasbro and activision
interested in having a go at it with the video footage to boot, and we
found out at CG Expo 2K that there is a Playstation 2600 emulator
already done by someone else that is superior to Activision
Classics...

It's just up to these companies to spend a few bucks to get something
like that out into the market.
